A nice long walk, great sun and a quiet day.......

Our Location:  American Girl Mine Road, California

A nice warm over night last night. This morning we opened the big door before 8 AM, the outside temp was 50F/10C with the sun shining in the big door and no breeze we were quite cozy. I slept better last night, I think because we are further from the spot where the train crosses the road and so I hear the horn much less.

At first I thought this was some kind alter, but not the figure I expected on the top.

I made us breakfast this morning of a nice breakfast wrap. Onions, garlic, mushrooms, yellow and orange peppers, eggs, salsa and some freshly grated parm cheese in a nice flour tortilla, pop it back in the pan until the wrap is warm and the cheese has melted. Mmm…good if I do say so myself.

The truck was way back near the foot of the mountains. The desert floor is anything but smooth.

After that I was off for a walk. Riley opted to stay home. I headed back to the mountains I have been showing in my pictures. Much further than it appeared. I left around 8:25 AM and returned about 10:30 AM. I know for a fact that I turned around and started home at 9:37 AM because I looked at my phone. Estimating by my normal walking speed I would say it was at least 5 miles return. A nice walk for me and I was tired when I arrived home. I didn't make it all the way to the mountains before turning back but I was close.

All kinds of markers dot the landscape.

Riley had the BBQ set up and her room all cleaned by the time I got back. Nice to have her do some outside chores for me as well as her own chores inside without having to ask. Hopefully her forward progress continues for the rest of the winter. We both opted to read for a while, Riley even had a nap.

I made it not quite to the bottom of the middle picture on the left.

I headed outside to set up our space with some solar lights and the mat, along with chairs. Feels more like home with a few little touches. We like a bit of light at night outside but it’s nothing that is overly bright and obnoxious. Just a couple of things here and there.

Closer but they are still far away.

I BBQ’d lunch while reading my book outside. Kentucky Bourbon Chicken along with sliced grilled potatoes and a mixed veggie packet of oregano spiced asparagus, cauliflower, greens beans and mushrooms. We topped that off with Lime Jello. A very good lunch around 2:30. While we were eating we witnessed a number of movers and shakers doing their thing. A couple of rigs moved to new spots, one left and came back, and a few just arrived. We are pretty scattered out with lots of space between everyone.

Closer still.

So that was our day, just a hang around home day today. Nice, easy, relaxing. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Far away are the dunes and past that the mountains which I believe are in Mexico. I am about half way home at this point I think.

Until next time… take care, be safe,

I followed this wash for a while on my way back.

    1. We don't usually cook for breakfast but I felt I needed something before heading out for a walk. I do enjoy the walks a great deal. I'll be trekking back that way again in the near future I'm sure.
