A photo kind of day….

Our Location:

Road Runner BLM, Quartzsite, Arizona

A day to salute, honour and remember those that have served and are serving their country. From giving their lives to living with the horrors, and all things in between, you have all given us a very precious gift, we are truly thankful for your sacrifice.

Time spent with friends, a couple of short walks, chatted with my sister and my dad. It was a good day.

Sunrise

The sun peeks over the Kofa Mountains.

Even in death the saguaros are sharp.

The skin is very tough, curling and peeling in layers.

Today my late Uncle Don would have celebrate a birthday. He has been gone for a little over 3 months but I can still see the twinkle in his eye as he took any any side of a discussion just to be able to argue! He was quite a fella.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope your day was a good one.

Until next time,

Take care, stay safe,

Deb

    1. Thanks. We are starting to unwind a bit and my feet have an itch to walk.

  2. It's amazing just how long cactus can live, even after it looks dead.

  3. I can imagine the crunch of the gravel as you take your walk, photographing the sunrise. All is quiet, except for the drone of a generator and the barking of a random dog. Am I right?

    1. True there are often little noises off in the distance and you nailed it exactly. My favourite moment is when you stand waiting for the sun to peek over that horizon and are hoping to catch that first tiny hint of the first ray about to crest and there is no sound, not a peep but you know you are not alone and if you listen hard enough you can imagine you hear millions of fingers taking the same picture you are at that very second. That sound is deafening!

  4. Timing is everything, waiting for the sun to rise and then set. It is most often worth the wait.

  5. I recognize the beautiful sunrise/set photos. Still guessing at the closeups of the cactus :)

    1. The saguaros are beautiful to me, living, dying and dead, they all offer such interesting photo opportunities. The outer skin often draws my eye with the various textures and gaping holes.
