A shop day for the Igloo.....

 Our Location:

Road Runner BLM, Quartzsite, Arizona

This morning the Igloo had an appointment at RV Lifestyles for a few little things. We had an inside gas quick connect added, an new anode rod, and the removal of the living room slide topper. We also bought a new heater, gas hose, and after that we headed out to the Tumble Weed RV park to get some water and dump the tanks.

The popcorn was very good.

But they didn't have any roasted peanuts.

Back home around 1 pm and set up quickly. Around 3:30 pm just as the rain started we hurried over to the Stinger B for happy hour. It rained off and on during happy hour and is still raining as I write this post. The washes are running a little bit and a few puddles are also apparent.

A rainbow but the rain wasn't over.

Taken out of the front window of the Stinger B.

Chatted with my dad, they are in the middle of a snow storm with cold winds. An inside day he said, between the house and the garage, I think he managed to get a number of things accomplished.

Rain is collecting in the wash.

And a few puddles here and there.

More water in the washes as the evening goes on.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the day.

Until next time...

Take care, stay safe,

Deb

  1. Our slide topper has a tear that I've repaired it with awning tape, a temporary fix, as it needs to be replaced. I'm curious why you had yours removed. And not replaced. Nice pics of the rainbows! but keep an eye on your local weather reports, it's gonna get nasty on our side of the hills.

    1. Honestly Jeff, I hope the nasty stays on your side of the hills. Lol. I am debating about taking the toppers off all together. The winds here in the desert at times require us to pull the slides in or the noise drives you crazy and I think it contributes to the rocking of the rig, not to mention that’s how they get ripped in the first place. I am even debating of replacing them all for the summer but removing them for the winter months. They aren’t an issue in our summer spot but I think they do help with the temperatures inside the rig. With the tension bar still in place they should be somewhat easy to put on and take off.

    1. You can read my answer to Jeff. I’m sure there are lots of reasons to put them back on, but I’ve already had a rig with them removed and it is much quieter without them. We don’t normally have to worry about snow or debris except a bit of dust and since we aren’t air tight it doesn’t really factor in. Rain always was pushed off as the slide comes in and actually a number of rigs start life topperless.

  4. We were just a Lifestyles to buy our new water pump the other day. Great people to work with. We had our slide topper replaced last fall, it really needed it.

    Beautiful rainbow!

    1. We already have a good heater but we were told it wouldn’t work with the inside connection, so what can you do. It’s only money. Lol.

  7. Good day to get things taken care of. We we never had s slide toppers and don't want them. We're never parked under trees anyway and don't want to listen to them on our windy Ridge or down here for that matter!

    1. It is good to have things taken care of and the toppers are a pain but I think for the summer they would be helpful with the heat but it's a toss. Some people love 'em, some hate 'em and others just go either way.
