A very wonderful day with friends....and meeting new friends....

Our Location:

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

A wonderful sunrise and sunset today but I'll have to post those photos tomorrow. Yes I know it's a day late but oh well.  The day was full and I have enough photos of other things to amuse you all.

I liked the signs.

One of the aisles at the marketplace.

We searched for you Nancy but couldn't find you anywhere!

We started our morning by heading off to the Arizona (Yuma) Marketplace at 9 am. All 5 of us, Deb & Tom (Celebrating the Dance ), Doug (Miss Adventure Travels ), Riley and I climbed into the Dogsled and with Deb D giving directions we made our way there. Walking the aisles, buying a few things, but mostly just enjoying the slow pace and the views we all had a good time. A few photos and before we knew it we were pushing toward the noon hour as we headed for home.

I really liked the top sign.

I wonder how the cactus would make out in a Canadian winter.

No pirates today....

well, hardly any .....

Tom spoke up just as we were approaching The Q Casino and I was quick to head the Dogsled toward the border with Mexico. We all agreed it would be a good idea. We walked and visited a few places, noticed a few new things, had a bite to eat and just enjoyed the slow pace. We were sitting in a little cafe enjoying a drink when a couple stopped by, Diane and Andy (Our Journey) to introduce themselves. We were so happy to meet them and glad they had taken the time to do so, we chatted for a few minutes before they headed off. They hail from Pennsylvania.  Doug & I followed them until we managed stop them for a photo. It is always nice to meet fellow bloggers!!

Diane and Andy!!

A very good Bloody Mary.

Margaritas, regular and strawberry.

It was a busy place but a nice place.

Very festive, don't ya think?

The line to come home was pretty long but we were heading through customs about an hour later, give or take a few minutes. We spoke with some fellow Canadians in line comparing places to go and before long we were passing through customs. We got home around 5 pm. Yuma was happy to see us and even though we'd spent all day together we visited for happy hour. A good day was had by all!!! We look forward to doing it again in the future.

A courtyard on our way to the border  crossing. Very cute!

The sugar they brought for Doug's coffee.

I wondered if he was praying....

She looked pretty happy but I must stay, she missed a few spots.

Lunch was chicken enchiladas, better at the other cafe.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you all had a great day too.

Until next time.....

Take care, be safe,

Deb

  1. Did Yuma tell you that I came for happy hour, and there was no one around? Finally gave up and headed back to my new camp (about a mile north) to watch hockey at 5! Maybe next time ! Google won’t let me sign in. Roadtrip 2023.

    1. Nope Yuma kept the secret but I’m pretty sure we will be around tomorrow or at least some of us will be. We didn’t know you were back or we could have invited you to come along, it was a good day.

  2. With all the gorgeous colors in Mexico, I don't think you can have a bad day. It's just a happy atmosphere. Yup you went right past my favorite fabric store in Arizona.

  3. Just love all those signs. It was a fun day and the weather turned out to be nice after the cloudy start. Lots of color to brighten spirits in Los Algodones.

    1. We had a great time. The pace was leisurely and the company fantastic. It was great of Diane and Andy to stop by and introduce themselves, we wish they could have chatted longer but a little is better than none.

  6. It looks like perhaps the Marketplace has picked up and that's great! It was pretty sparse when we visited in November. Those margaritas made my mouth water! Nice to meet fellow bloggers! I'll have to read Doug's blog for a picture of that haircut!!!

    1. We were there early, by 9:30 but it wasn’t crowded. It was a different layout than last time. Cleaner than I remember it too. It was wonderful to meet fellow bloggers, such a surprise for us. Not much of a cut, a little nsn here and there but she truly didn’t do a good job. Even after showing her the long straggly pieces she missed she managed to leave half of it again. Doug trimmed it at home to make it even.
