A nice quiet day....

Our Location:  BLM Plomosa Road, Quartzsite, AZ

An excellent night’s sleep once again. I slept all night, not getting up even one time. It’s been a while since I’ve accomplished that. Not as cold this morning as yesterday and so we didn’t need the heater on in the early hours.

Sunset tonight on Plomosa Road.

Visiting with blogging friends, a hot drink and some chatter with Riley was the way the day started. Riley left for a walk and I stayed home doing some chores that needed doing. They weren’t major chores but those annoying little things that only take a few minutes but still makes life more enjoyable.

It get's closer to setting.

Those chores took longer than I expected and yet I still finished before noon. After that I spent some time making salads and prepping things for lunch before I settled down to read for a while.  The Dan Brown book is interesting but like Web Griffin he provides too much detail that isn’t integral to the story.  At least in my opinion.

The Igloo's nice little spot on Plomosa Road.

I spent some time outside bbq’ing lunch and reading my book. The sun was warm, almost hot but the wind kept things moderated and I enjoyed the time outside. An hour on low and slow had lunch cooked and a few minutes later we were enjoying lunch.

It's half way to it's goal.

After a quick clean up we both enjoyed some more quiet time, I spent time reading and Riley spent time doing whatever it was Riley does to amuse herself.

The mountains at sunset. A quad heading home from an afternoon of riding.

A phone call to Dad to return his call which he said he didn’t place.  He chatted with my sister Jan and learned that her partner Rick is now out of the hospital. Hopefully they both recover from the flu quickly.  He says the unrelenting cold and wind is supposed to stay around for at least another week. Lots of snow over the last day or so, about a foot on top of what they already had. I think he’s pretty tired of winter already.

Sunset tonight.

A short walk to get a few sunset pictures for my post tonight. After which Riley and I decided we’d watch a movie, Silverado with a very young Kevin Costner and Danny Glover.  That was it for our day, I hope you enjoyed your visit here to A long and lonesome highway. Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time… take care, be safe,

Deb

  1. Sounds like a nice day for you too! Great pictures. Kevin Costner is always young in my eyes, he is one of my very special actors.

    1. We did have a very nice day. The crowds of the day before take their toll and it's nice to have a day away from the hustle.
Kevin Costner is a very talented man, and we enjoyed seeing this young, highly excited version of him. lol

    1. We enjoy them too George. We're enjoying the afternoons a great deal. The warmth is always welcome. I find that my fingers don't want to work properly on the key board in this crisp morning air.

  3. A quite relaxing day parked in the desert one of my favorites. (I have probably said that before and I am sure I will say it again...lol)
Looks like a wonderful spot and your pictures of the sunset were beautiful.

    1. Thanks Deb. We enjoy the peace and quiet of being a bit further out of the action. We've found that resting is as enjoyable as not. LOL. We do have a very good view of the sunset. I enjoy watching it every night.

    1. Thanks Shirley. I'm sure he'll take a bit of time to get better. The flu seems to be making the rounds more rapidly and at a much higher rate on the Island this year. Hopefully they get over it quickly and don't invite it back for another visit.
      We had a fantastic day!!

  5. Glad Rick is home again.
Hope Winter starts easing its grip soon not just here but back home as well.
Maybe you can stop into the Blogger-Fest this afternoon.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. Thanks Rick. I'm glad he's home too. Means he's getting better or at least not any worse. The worse place to be is in the hospital, so many bugs running through there these days. You can catch more inside the hospital than you can outside of it.
Winter is slowly moving forward toward spring as it does every year and I'm sure it's coming albeit it slowly.
No,I am not going to attend Bloggerfest. Riley and I are going to have a nice quiet relaxing day at home with some good books, perhaps a game or two and just enjoy the warmth and the sunshine. I do hope all that attend Bloggerfest have a wonderful time.
