A few rain drops just as I was about to get up this morning had me rethinking my walk and the sunrise. Instead I stayed in bed and played a game on my iPad until I heard Riley stirring around.
Not as soft and cuddly as it appears from far away.
This tree is still growing even though the trunk is partially out of the ground and as you can see hollow.
We both decided that walks were out of the question with the possibility of rain hanging over us so instead opted to just head out do our errands. We had things to do in Yuma today. So that is what we did.
Not much left to see.
There's Gold in them thar hills!
Our first stop was Game Stop where Riley traded in some games and bought one. The trade was good and Riley walked out with a $2 credit and having to pay no money. She’s happy, I’m happy.
I walked in this wash for a while. All sand, some very hard packed, some loose and some worn and in danger of falling in.
This is looking the other way from the picture taken above.
We decided Fry’s was too far away for us and just did the groceries at Walmart right next door to Game Stop. We spent a couple of hours there getting a few things that we needed plus doing our grocery shopping. It was a good way to spend some time.
This is the same colour as the sand, I think they mixed it with water and made a firm surface and used it as cement. Doesn't appear to be much gravel in the mixture.
From there we stopped at a Circle K and the Big Dog had a drink at $2.99 US per gallon of diesel. A good price for us this year. We also stopped at a Big Lots and a 99 cent store but walked out empty handed from both of them.
I believe this is a mine shaft as you can see some evidence of diggings on the right and some lesser stuff on the left.
Another shaft or hole, you can see more digging evidence on the path at the door.
We headed home under mostly cloudy skies. A wave through at the Agricultural Inspection station had us smiling as we motored on home. Groceries inside, put away, lunch handled and we managed to read for a couple of hours.
More of the sides of the wash that I walked along.
Called sister in law Janet and made plans to meet her in the upcoming week and to wish her a Happy Birthday. She spent the day playing golf in the rain as she was playing in a 3 day golf tournament and today is the 2nd day. She said it rained all day there, and not just a light rain. We are looking forward to having a visit with her. Also called my dad for a chat tonight. We talked for about a half hour or so. A big snow storm is heading their way along with some very frigid temperatures. Hopefully the weather guessers are wrong and they get balmy temps and sunny skies.
The trails lead in various directions but not all are usable. Some end at a hole in the side of a hill and some seem to be more water ways than trails. All are interesting though.
Today I didn’t take a single picture but I have lots left from yesterday and so I’ll share those with you. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have had a wonderful day.
The resting place of some that died here in Tumoc. No headstones that I could see but all are piled high with rocks. I would estimate (although I didn't count) probably about 20 folks are here.
Until next time…take care, be safe,
