A change is coming.....

Our Location: Big Buck Resort, Hornsby, Tennessee

(Some more of our winter time pictures)

The morning started warm and just kept getting warmer with the sun peeking out as the morning progressed. The warm temperatures are having a yoyo effect on us. Mid afternoon found the temperature resting at 82F/27C with humidity high and the winds higher. We're in the area of high wind warnings today with possible t-storms late this afternoon and into this evening.

We spent another lazy day doing just a few little things such as cleaning up pollen from the inside of the Igloo and going over our shopping list of items we wish to take back to Ontario with us. I also spent some time doing a few emails.

The winds picked up this morning and have been steadily picking up as the day goes on, the owner lady Tina was out cutting grass today and the grass and dust were flying everywhere. It's the second time they've cut grass since we've arrived, or maybe they've just finished the first cut due to water. I'm not sure.

I called a few places yesterday making reservations for our homeward journey and talked to a lady in Quincy, Ohio that told me they just had 6" of new snow overnight and was I certain I wanted to make a reservation. The sound of her voice was one of shock and humour. I've checked the weather and today they are getting lots of rain in the forecast so I'm assuming the snow will be gone when we arrive on Saturday.

The forecast ahead looks like one or two cold nights and a couple cool days but otherwise things are looking quite good for the trip back to Ontario and when we reach there the weather looks to be improving as well. So let's hope it actually goes that way.

So there you have it, our quiet day here. They are winding down with just one more full day here before we hit the road. As I type this the temperatures are dropping, the skies are becoming overcast again and the wind is still pretty blustery. The coolness in the air is apparent and the winds are switching from the SW to NW.

  1. If you can make a slow trip north it will be to your benefit unless you can bring the warmer temperatures with you.
The forecast is showing a few days with Flurries here in the Windsor area.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. Thanks Rick. We're not crossing for a while yet and we'll be coming slowly. The long range forecast looks to be very good for when we will actually arrive, only one cold night and after that a warming trend for as far as the forecast goes. Of course it's all guess work but it's happy guess work in our favour. So we'll be take it.

  2. Yesterday, we had 2" of snow in northwest Ohio and today it is 62F and rain and flood/tornado warnings. It is crazy. Take as much time as you can but we hear as well that it should be mid 50's after the 15th of April.
    Take care in your journey.

    1. Thanks Patsy. We're heading in that direction as well, to Quincy, Ohio for a week. We had the same warnings over all but for our own local it was severe t-storms, damaging winds and hail possible. We had some pretty good thunder and lightning and a bit of rain, with a few really good gusts but nothing after that for which I was very happy.

We're crossing on the 14th so we're going to be right there when the weather turns nice. We'll keep our fingers crossed that it comes earlier and you and Bill have some nice spring warmth to greet you.

    1. The Big Horn sheep can be seen from my sil back patio on the golf course. He's not shy and doesn't run when the golfers come by, usually climbs about 50' and stops to watch. He's only got one horn though and according to his colour, he's a senior citizen.

The lady in Quincy was truly at a loss as to why anyone would want to come camp in her park NOW. Hahaha....she was pretty good though, kept saying to herself but out loud, we'll figure it out, we'll figure it out, and I have to tell you I asked her a couple of times if she was sure they would be able to get us some power. The rest I don't care about but if it's going to be cold I'd like some power so we can run the furnace if necessary. I don't leave the heater on over night and if it's really cold I will leave the furnace on.

    1. We are expecting to hit some cool weather and at least two cold nights but nothing too extreme. I'm not too worried about the driving conditions as we still have lots of time to get home to the border and if it looks bad we'll just come earlier than expected. However thanks for the heads up.
