Change of plans...

Our Location: Palm Canyon BLM, KOFA NWR, Arizona

A change of plans today had us lazing around again. Although I will admit I did go up on the roof and clean the solar panels. They actually weren't nearly as bad as I expected. Once that was accomplished it was pretty much a research day for me. A chat with Dad and making contact with my buddy from Kansas has me rethinking my generator choice so I'll be doing some more thinking before I purchase one.

The barrel cactus here aren't as bright red in colour as they are on Ogilby Road near Yuma.

This dying Saguaro is easily seen from our window.

As you can see it's still a greenish hint in places but this one is definitely not going to recover.

Nephew Jason and his lovely wife Leah leave tomorrow for the second annual trip to British Columbia where they will be enjoying the wonders of the providence, including a great deal of snow mobile riding. Safe travels and have fun!!

Lots of pointy things to watch out for in the desert.

The little one is tucked in and I didn't see it at first.

Today's photos were taken yesterday on a short walk. I thought if I got outside and walked around that I might see something inspiring toward the mountains but alas, nothing, zip, nada. I wonder why that is?

Yep, that's a sharp pointy thing too.

The end of a dead limb on a stump in the wash.

As I sit writing this post folks are coming and going. It seems we now have two new neighbours that have pulled into the space near us, much closer than we like and much closer than good RV'ers should even think about . We can hear them talking, their dog barking and pretty much every noise they make. I wonder why folks do that? Of course it's a rhetorical question, we all know why. They have no manners, no regard for others and they don't give a rat's behind about anyone but themselves. End of rant.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you've all had a wonderful day.

Until next time.. take care, be safe,

Deb

  1. beautiful cactus pictures. I'm surprised people are moving in and it is crowded. Should be lots of room out there without having neighbors so close by. I'm sure you're going to the palm trees before you leave. I want to see them in the sunlight, so you may have to make several trips :))

    1. We could quite literally hear every word of their conversations. Every time we moved or spoke the dogs barked. Seems they like to sing after dark, after 11 pm, the people not the dogs. So it was just easier to pull up stakes and move.
Sorry, there will be no close up photos of the KOFA mountains, the Palm Canyon or the other end at Crystal Hill. For reasons I can't explain, I have no desire to visit any of them.

  2. Never bend down to take cactus pictures unless you look first. I've felt a few of those spikes before! I don't understand those people either. Why do they park so close? Maybe they are afraid to park out by themselves. I've had them park within 20 feet. I couldn't stand it, I moved my rig.

    1. I'm always careful when taking cacti photos but thanks for the warning.
I think they are just rude, inconsiderate and bullies. They wanted 'that' spot and didn't care about anything, or anyone else.

  3. Oh I'm so sorry about your neighbors! All you ladies and getting on the roof I'm impressed! Hopefully your neighbors will move today, but I'm thinking if they don't you will. Enjoy your day!

    1. I enjoyed the view from the roof. Although I forgot to take my camera.
You are right, we moved. Just much easier.

  4. I know exactly what you mean. This year I had a guy in a Phateon(not Nancy), pull thru between my rig and lawn chairs and the fire pit, so he could turn the other way and pull in across from me. Here at Road Runner it is very busy and one would think it was an RV park. I moved already once, figure I will just live with it until I leave.

    1. Just kind of ticks me off and if it were in Canada, I'd say something. It wouldn't do any good but it would make me feel better. I'm a visitor here and so I'll just keep my mouth shut and move on. It does however give a certain taint to the place I think.
We aren't far down the road from you. I waved, did you see me? Haha.
      Have a great day.

    1. There are a ton of various cacti around, and the stickers as well of course. I've missed taking cacti photos so far this year. I'll be enjoying these next weeks being able to snap a few shots each day.
