Photo kind of day....

Our Location: Near American Girl Mine Road, BLM, CA

Morning dawned without the sun, clouds, threatening clouds hung over us most of the day until later into the afternoon when things started to clear up. Warm temps for sure but blah looking skies ruled. So that being the case I'm going to make this a photo kind of post. I hope you enjoy.

Once again they flew the grid but only once.

Some of the colourful spines on the cacti in our yard.

A mass of spines on the top.

Not all are red, some are pink and yellow.

Not all of the cacti are brightly coloured.

Several spines in each cluster.

Very closely bunched on top.

The desert is not brown but various colours.

You can see the dark clouds over there.

Starting break late this afternoon.

A short sunset.

Almost no pink or reds tonight.

We could see more colour off in the distance but this was our view.

Pretty.

Soon it fizzled.

This band of pink was far to the north west of us.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you had a wonderful day.

Until next time.. take care, be safe,

Deb

  1. Love all of your photos from the past few posts. Photography is subjective and I really enjoy seeing life through your camera lense.

    1. I believe you are correct Al. There are a number of them just outside the door and I always marvel at their colour. They make interesting photos with all those points and colours.

    1. The desert is full of colours, we simply need to look around with a different mind set. Even the dull dreary browns have exciting colour when the sun hits them just so.

  5. Beautiful pictures Deb! There are certainly beautiful colors in the desert for sure! This time of year our colors are mostly brown, but in the spring it does green up for a bit :0 The red in the cactus is beautiful!

    1. Thanks Shirley. As a short term visitor to the desert the past few years I've come to see a great deal of colour each year, even the brown can be amazing in the proper light.

  6. We have been asked more then once, Why would you want to go and spend time in the brown desert? I always answer, because the desert is not brown it is bursting with color, you just have to look, and personally I think even the browns are beautiful. Great close ups of the Cactus.

    1. Thanks Deb. I just said the same in my earlier replies. I think the desert offers amazing colours if we simply look for them. The sun makes an amazing 'flashbulb' to some otherwise dry, barren views. It is an addition to any landscape, not just the desert of course but to me it enhances the colours making them rich, deep and vibrant.

    1. Sunshine seems to be the order of the day. I think everyone is tired of the clouds.
