Winter, spring, winter.....

Our Location: Tehkummah, Ontario

Just a quick little photo show. Winter doesn't want to let go here, this morning was -13C/ 9 F but we've been going up and down from just above freezing to  just below until the last couple of days which have been consistently COLD. Add to that the wonderful north wind and well, you get the idea.

March 25, a new snow fall.

Not massive but enough, wet and heavy.

March 26, early morning, freezing rain.

Later in the day March 26, now just muddy roads.

As you can see from the photos, in one week we had some interesting weather, today the road in the last photo is frozen and no mud in sight. Cold but no wind makes a difference here, although living on a big rock in the middle of Lake Huron insures that at some point there will be wind during any 24 hour period. Hopefully it's from the south and remains so for the next number of weeks. The snow banks are melting quickly at times but new ones are showing up too.  Freezing rain in the forecast for tomorrow as well.  Ah spring, it is the season.

The sunrise photos I changed the colour tint to match closer to the actual colour in the sky that the camera just can't seem to pick up. All photos were taken with my phone of course.

Thanks for dropping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Until next time,

take care, be safe, stay healthy

  1. This is the hardest time of year. You are tired of winter, anxiously awaiting spring. Then it finally comes, the warm weather melting the snow but with it comes mud....sticky, messy mud everywhere!

    1. True, but it does promise better days ahead, even if that promise is very far off.

  2. Sounds like a typical Spring See-Saw. Like you we are looking forward to some stability.

  3. Loved the pictures! We had 80's for a few days and then yesterday cooler and we woke up to a cold rain, but that's nice as we never get rain here in NV. I think the freezing is done for the winter :)

    1. Glad you liked the photos. I’m trying to keep positive in my outlook but the right at freezing mark in middle May is making that tough. Haha

  4. Spring is just a tease, isn't it? Up down, down, up. Actually it is the same here just not quite as dramatic. Hope it soon comes to stay!

    1. Spring is definitely a tease and I have been envying you folks, we haven’t hit anything too warm yet, only one day was short wearing weather. Mid May should see us being warmer but at least the leaves are just now out, so I guess everything is behind and warmer temps will have to follow right?

  5. March is always a fun month in the North. Spring tries to come in but winter just keeps turning around and coming back in. It sounds like you are having the same wonderful weather our daughter has been talking about. Snow is one thing but the freezing rain stuff is no fun at all.

    1. Ah yes, Northern living has its trials, doesn’t it? Hopefully we get more seasonal stuff soon though, still running a heater in the mornings, very chilly.

  6. Yes, frustrating weather indeed this Spring. It was a cold winter and that cold just keeps hanging on. Even the 14-day forecast doesn't look all that great for the first two weeks of April.

    1. We are now into mid May and things still aren’t great, hopefully it improves soon.

  7. It's been a month since you posted this so I am hoping that your weather is improved. We are still waking up to frost. However the leaves are starting to pop out. Just think you have all summer to plan the perfect winter.

    1. Mid May now and we are still cold and damp. The north wind just seems to be bringing us artic like air, even the newly popped leaves are shivering.
