It has been a quiet couple of days, most of us are in various stages of dripping noses and coughing, so we aren’t doing much. Riley and I have been doing/ will do a few errands. Dumping tanks, laundry a few last minute grocery items before Christmas.

Today’s photos were left overs from our time at Road Runner BLM near Quartzsite. I forgot I had a them until I was deleting already used photos and thought I would share them.

I have chatted off and on with various folks back home over the past few days. Things are quiet on the Little Rock in Lake Huron, and I do believe they might have mentioned some snow.

Looking at the long range forecast we have rain in the offing tonight and tomorrow, and a significant drop in temperatures for a couple of weeks. It looks our temps will drop about 10 degrees day and night. Time to break out the long pants and sweaters tomorrow.

A very short post....

No post yesterday and I debated about today. I'm struggling to post every day and think for the remainder of our stay here on Ogilby I may not post, or at least not much, which also means I won't be reading/commenting either. I will eventually catch up but not for a while.  Enjoy the pics I've found on my phone, no idea when I took them.

As you can see, the wash is very wide and the growth is in the middle.

A very quiet but windy day....

A walk this morning, a short chat with Doug and a few pets for Yuma about sums up the day.

A catch up......

                               Hmmm I don't think I like this new format. It doesn't do anything I want it to do. Makes me sad to think that blogging is taking a step backwards instead of forward. This is complicated.

After trying unsuccessfully to edit this post, I apologize for the ugly post. I'm not working at it any more today.

It's been very quite here, not a lot going on but a we like it quiet. We've been able to enjoy the warmth and sunshine of late, and managing to pass those days that were much less enjoyable earlier in the month.

The top photos are of quick shots of the hummingbird and the new feeder we added to the yard. He seems to enjoy it and manages to handily chase everyone else away. The middle photos are of course taken of the angry, wind whipped waters of Lake Huron/Georgian Bay at the mouth of the harbour where the ferry comes in. Following that is wild strawberries I found not far from our door, and of course the wonderful green colour and abundance of cones from one of the many every greens that grace the views out our window. The last photos I captured a couple of days ago, a visitor on the picnic table. Not sure if he was expecting lunch, but we didn't feed him. 

We've been working off and on a day or two a week and are enjoying the distraction from quiet, lazy days around the Igloo. The nights are warming up nicely or cooling off, depending on your point of view but we can now leave our door, windows and vents open all night and sleep comfortably without being too hot or too cold. The perfect sleeping temperatures for us.

Lots of wildlife around these days. A number of deer have popped out from cover along the roadsides, we even managed to see two bears on our recent travels for groceries. Of course the regular rabbits, porcupines, geese, and sand hill cranes are also ever present.

My dad's youngest brother was involved in a motorcycle accident late yesterday. Not  many details, multiple injuries of course but they don't sound to be life threatening.

 Condolences to my best friend Linda and her family on the passing of her brother Allen, a few weeks ago. Allen had been ill for some time. Belated Happy Birthday wishes to my Aunt Shirley, who celebrated on June 3rd. She is the oldest of my dad's two sisters. Also an early birthday wish for my sister Jan, who celebrates another year on June 25th, and my uncle Percy who celebrates on June 26. Also Happy Anniversary wishes to my brother Rick and his lovely bride Barbara, they celebrate another year (36 years, I think) on June 23. Of course Happy Father's Day to each and every father out there!!!!

Rainy day...

Our Location: Empire Ranch, Vail, AZ

 

A very quiet few days, some wind, some errands and today we are having rain. We've been enjoying the quiet, except the wind is never quiet however perhaps it's the angle at which we are parked but we've had very little trouble with the slide toppers. As we are in among some rolling hills the wind sounds very interesting through the grass and the trees here. A lonesome sound, I think would describe it well. It is neither friend nor foe, it is neither welcoming nor off putting, it simply is. 

 

 

 

 

 

Sunset last night, Saturday, March 7. Sorry, they aren't a bit more clear but it gives you the idea. Fish & Game folks were tented beside us for a few days, trapping and tagging prairie dogs, and this morning the only car (front wheel drive of course) was stuck in the mud, due to the rain we are getting. It took some doing but eventually they have all left now. 

Tomorrow is moving day and it's only a short move, so we are in no hurry to pack up which is good thing as with the rain, the entire area is just slick mud. Rain is to end early afternoon today and hopefully it clears up later before the sun goes down. Tomorrow will be a sunny day.

Another quiet day....

Our Location: Near American Girl Mine Road, BLM, CA

A very quiet, peaceful day. A walk before 9 AM and back home to do a few phone calls and relax. We're getting pretty good at the relaxing part of things. Some time in the sun, some time in the shade, back to the sun, you get the idea right?

And the beginnings of yet another.....

 

I believe this may have been fields burning in a controlled burn situation, as before long the smoke rose again twice more off to the right. The smoke hung in the air for a while but soon was gone. We didn't smell anything.

Chatted with my dad while taking these sunset photos. We caught up on the local stuff happening back there. Snow, snow, snow and maybe some more snow. Wind, wind and more wind.

In the exact opposite direction the sun is sinking.
