Rainy day...

Our Location: Empire Ranch, Vail, AZ

A very quiet few days, some wind, some errands and today we are having rain. We've been enjoying the quiet, except the wind is never quiet however perhaps it's the angle at which we are parked but we've had very little trouble with the slide toppers. As we are in among some rolling hills the wind sounds very interesting through the grass and the trees here. A lonesome sound, I think would describe it well. It is neither friend nor foe, it is neither welcoming nor off putting, it simply is.

Sunset last night, Saturday, March 7. Sorry, they aren't a bit more clear but it gives you the idea. Fish & Game folks were tented beside us for a few days, trapping and tagging prairie dogs, and this morning the only car (front wheel drive of course) was stuck in the mud, due to the rain we are getting. It took some doing but eventually they have all left now.

Tomorrow is moving day and it's only a short move, so we are in no hurry to pack up which is good thing as with the rain, the entire area is just slick mud. Rain is to end early afternoon today and hopefully it clears up later before the sun goes down. Tomorrow will be a sunny day.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you all are doing well.

Until next time... take care, be safe,

Deb

  1. Took bad about the rain. Doesn't sound like you're worried about getting stuck. That's good. Pretty sunset. Nice to have quiet days. I'm finally getting a few now and it's great.

    1. Glad things are getting settled down for you. I think it's been a very unsettling winter for you this year. Hopefully you and Yuma can soon settle down and just enjoy the winter adventure like you always have in years past.
Actually the rain is not unwelcome and it wasn't a hard rain, more of a very light but very steady rain. Enough to accumulate and make puddles, mud and so on but not enough to actually cause any worries.

  2. Nice pictures.
You can always delay your departure so the Sun can dry up the mud.
    Be Safe ans Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. Thanks Rick. Actually we discussed that very thing but we have a good window today to move as there is a long forecast of rain or possible rain on a number of upcoming days. We'll pull out later today, the washes should be dried up or at least only slightly wet and muddy roads aren't an issue.

  3. Tagging prairie dogs? That's weird as I've never even SEEN a prairie dog out there. Take care in the mud moving to your new site. I sunset looks amazing!

    1. Tagging may be a lazer thing, unlike cattle with the big ear tags. We are in a part of the ranch that does not allow prairie dog hunting, and I get the impression they are trying to help the p.dog population rebound here on the ranch. There are a number of signs with regards to p.dog hunting all around the ranch.
      Thanks Nancy.
