And another time zone today…

Our Location:

Ward Rest Area, Pyote, Texas

An early start at the Lordsburg Welcome Centre in New Mexico, thanks to the generator next door at 6 am, and the plunk of the big diesel beside him. Both parked in the driving lanes instead of the empty slots along the other end. Oh well, it was only one night.

We are leaving New Mexico…

And entering the Lone Star State…

Of Texas.

Our wheels were turning by 7:30 am MDT at a crisp 44F/6.6 C. Our original destination was Van Horn, Texas but we opted to keep going. Due to a number of construction slow downs, which I think would be approximately 1 1/2 hours of moving at less than walking speed, our day extended longer than we had expected. We arrived here at 4:30 MDT/5:30 CDT, by the way, we are in Central Daylight Time now, one hour behind Ontario.

The drive was good, bumpy in places, very slow in places, but mostly just good driving. We travelled approximately 400 miles/644 klm in 8 hours, but our fuel was a little more today as we rolled up and down all day. We started our day at an elevation of 4249’, climbed to at least 4600 at the Continental Divide and are now sitting at 2625’. So keeping that in mind, we used about 35 gallons of fuel, our cheapest fill up was at $3.59 per gallon.  That brings us in at about 11.5 mpg, again, I’m happy with that all things considered.

The long descent at Las Cruces, NM.

The temps are warm now, around 70 F/21C, a very slight breeze and we are tucked up at the curb and will leave a few windows open tonight.

Central Time now…

Today’s pics were again taken out of a dirty window while hurling down the road. However you get the idea.

Until next time….

Take care, stay safe,

A very nice day....

Our Location:

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

A beautiful day here, but a very relaxing day. Riley and I took a walk and that was the extent of our exercise. I will admit to puttering around doing a few things but I think I'm resting up for the busy times ahead back on the Rock.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it. The last of the pics from the ride with Jerry. Enjoy.

It was a rough road in spots.

The road was very steep, even though it doesn't look it. I know because we went down and back up.

The view is spectacular.

They hold no interest of hiking but of the roads through them, I'm fascinated.

The last of the photos I took. Thanks Jerry. Again it was another great ride.

 Until next time.....

A ride into the edge of the Fortuna Foothills.........

Our Location:

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

This morning the temps were as pleasant as yesterday morning and the day pretty much followed the same heat as yesterday. A beautiful day with no complaints here from us.

Some of the roads looked like this. We are heading back to those hills in the distance.

Some not quite so smooth...

A few little bumps along the way...

The hills are closer now.

I headed out this morning, leaving Riley behind as she didn't want to come, around 8:30 am, a garbage run before my drive to Wellton. I arrived at Jerry and Elva's place about 9:45 am. Jerry and I headed off toward the Fortuna Foothills in his toy!! Jerry is an excellent guide and driver, thanks again Elva for the loan. Thanks Jerry for the wonderful day, I appreciate it more than I can tell you. I had a very good time.

Some of the ride was like this, flat views with dust in the offing.

Some folks ahead are creating that dust.

Some of the ride was through this rolling type of landscape.

Some very barren looking spots too.

Back home around 2:30 pm or so, Riley and I  spent the rest of the day just relaxing and enjoying the warmth. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy the ride. I'll have enough pics for a few days.

I love the view.

There is a beauty here that is hard to describe.

The distances one can see is amazing.

Jerry having a snack!!

The internet seemed to be having an issue and I couldn't upload the last four photos last night. It seems to be better today. I'll write another post later.

Until next time...

Friends leave today......

Our Location:

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

A very warm night, excellent temperatures had me getting up to close to 60F/16C around the hour of  7 am MST. The day topped out at about 82F/28C with a good breeze and so things stayed a very nice temperature.

The blooms weren't open when I was out walking this morning.

Lots of possibilities here.

Our friends Deb & Tom at  Celebrating the Dance  left this morning around 10 am. Bittersweet was the parting but we are always left with the hope of seeing them again before heading off for the summer. The Stinger B's horn sounded as arms waved and with the Little Black Limo rolling faithfully behind they headed off on the next leg of their adventure. Safe travels friends!!!

Hooked up and read to roll.

The wheels are rolling and they're off.

The rest of the day was spent just resting and I even had a bit of a nap. I chatted with my dad for about a half hour tonight. Baby news from nephew Jesse and wife Claudia. Hali Margaret Lestie  (Margaret after Claudia's grandmother and Lestie after Jesse's grandmother who was my mother ) arrived safe and sound, weighing in at 7lbs 14 ozs. She's a cutie!! Congrats again to all.

One of the baskets we bought in Mexico.

Two fit nicely in this space.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Until next time...

We ventured to Los Algodones again today....

Our Location:

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

A quiet day in Los Algodones, Mexico. Lunch, a couple of adult beverages and a little shopping. No lines anywhere and we liked that. So I will let the pics do the story telling today.

I think I surprised Doug!

We actually sat and waited for Deb & Tom to come along before we went through
the wall to the customs office.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you all had a wonderful day.

Until next time...

Take care, stay safe,
