We’ve started our long drive towards Ontario…

 

Our Location:

BLM Road Runner, Quartzsite, Arizona 

Yes, we have moved but first a catch up of the last couple of weeks. Of course Doug came for a bit, but you already know that from his blog, so I won’t retell the same stuff. Yep, he got stuck, we got him out and life moved on.  He left us a few days ago and is near by at Palm Canyon Rd.

If you look  closely, there are 7, that is a big number all at one time.

Riley and I visited Mexico one last time for dental cleaning on Monday 18th. It was a very quick trip as everything was backed up due to a late border opening that day and a full parking lot. We didn’t take any extra time there, we didn’t want to wait in the line any longer than necessary.

We are in Indio, California 

We are travelling near the Salton Sea.

Forgive the dirty windshield. I think the white is a salt residue as we are near the Salton Sea.

We also managed to visit Yuma a few times for some errands, groceries, laundry, etc.  Otherwise it was peaceful but pretty warm. On Saturday 23rd Riley and I climbed into the Dogsled for a round trip of about 300 miles to visit SIL/Aunt Janet and her hubby Dennis. Both are doing well , Dennis escorted the three ladies to a local restaurant for lunch. Thanks Dennis. We had a nice visit and will hopefully see them again in the summer on the Island. We had our first ride in a very shiny black Maserati. They traded in the Bentley earlier this year, we didn’t get a ride in that one! We were home around 5:30 pm. We hunkered down due to wind on Sunday.

Our morning started around 7 am and found us in the Dogsled by 8am. We stopped at the Chevron Station to empty the tanks, took Exit 3 to 32nd, turned left and at 8:45 am pulled into East Bay tires. Friendly, clean, and knowledgeable, we were on the road again shortly after 10:30am with new rubber all around the Igloo. We are pulled into RR BLM, parked and as set up as we plan to get here before 1 pm.

We’ve been talking to dad and folks back home. Good weather, snow, cold, more good weather, etc, etc. So pretty typical weather. Everyone is doing well there and are looking forward to spring.

And we start homeward, Monday, March 25, 8am PDT.

We have a purpose for being here, we want Lifestyles to add an indoor quick connect for our heater and after that  we are heading slowly home. It is time, we have the urge and the itch!

We ventured to Los Algodones again today....

A quiet day in Los Algodones, Mexico. Lunch, a couple of adult beverages and a little shopping. No lines anywhere and we liked that. So I will let the pics do the story telling today. 

 

I think I surprised Doug!

 

We actually sat and waited for Deb & Tom to come along before we went through

the wall to the customs office.

Another quick trip to Mexico and friends arrive....

 

Our Location: 

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

 

Today we headed back to Mexico to pick up Doug's new glasses. We were on our own and enjoyed the experience. We left home around 7:45 am MST and dropped our garbage at the rest area and then we headed off to the border crossing to Mexico. We reached Precision Optical around 8:30 am when they opened. We wandered around, grabbing a coffee in a place we knew. We had breakfast at a little sidewalk spot and did a little more walking but before long we were headed back toward the purple store and to the border crossing. It all went very well and we were back home before noon. 

 

I like the pottery and the tiles. The fountain tiles are very pretty.

They made a new friend.

We had a pedicure here with Willie and this is where we bought coffee.

To get home we need to cross behind that brown wall over there.

 

Shortly after 2:30 pm Doug's (Miss Adventure Travels  ) little silver Jeep disappeared for a short time. Not long after it was coming up the road followed by another Jeep and a big Yellow motor home. Yep, Deb & Tom ( Celebrating the Dance ) had arrived.  Hugs, and how are you's were exchanged, we left to let them get set up and settled but joined them later for happy hour. It's nice to see them again after not being here for a couple of years.

We had breakfast here this morning, but lunch a few days ago.

Just outside the eye glass place, while Doug was checking out his eye wear.

I chatted with my sister last night for about an hour. We caught up on all the happenings and goings on the Island. We did a lot of laughing. It's always nice to hear familiar voices. 

  

We didn't see this last time, or at least I don't remember it.

A Jeep ride....

 

 Our Location: 

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

There is a cold north wind yet again today, our high today was 59F/15C but it felt much less. Out of the wind the day was nice, it was bright and sunny though. 

I didn't get this far on my own feet the other day.

 I like the colours.

It looks like a water way was cut into the rocks on the left.

Riley and I headed out for  a short walk, she wanted to stay close to home today, yesterday's lunch didn't agree with her. We were home by 9 am when Doug (Miss Adventure Travels ), Yuma and I headed out in his jeep. We ended up back in the Cargo Muchacho Mountains but couldn't find a way through them. We turned around and came back home. We did however get down closer to the open pit mine while we were out there. All of today's photos are during that ride.

The stepped sides are starting to be less defined.

This is the first actual pine tree I've seen wild in the desert.

Back home shortly after 12:30 pm, Riley and I had some lunch and then I crawled upstairs and had a nap. The bouncing in the Jeep wore me out and I slipped under two fleece blankets and immediately dozed off for about an hour.

We headed back to the jeep. Doug is all in camo but he's down this wash. We eventually drove down here.

The road looks good here but it deteriorates the longer we drive.

End of the line, no way the jeep can make it up this one, time to turn around.

Other than that, not one exciting thing happened here in the desert. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you had a fantastic day. 

Someone built this little shelter from the wind. There is a spot for a fire on the left in that little hole.

We walked up the side of the bank, and checked out the top but still could find no way through.
