A change in plans....

Our Location: Quail Ridge Rv Park, Huachuca City, Az

I haven't download my phone the last few days so there are no photos.

Riley and I have been discussing our plans and have both decided it is prudent to head home to Ontario instead of meeting our friends and taking our time going home.

We have been debating our route, north or south. North will be cooler or maybe cold, south will be hot and humid. There really isn't any in between route.  I'm leaning toward the northern route but I'll decide when we reach the necessary point.

Our plan is to leave here in the morning and travel daily until we reach Ontario. I'm guessing it will take us about a week to travel the approximately 2000 miles to reach the Detroit/Windsor area.

To all of our friends who are travelling or trying to wait this thing out, we wish you safe travels, or safe sitting, good health, and great weather. To all of those already at home, stay safe, healthy, and take care.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until  next time... take care, be safe.

  1. Safe travels you guys. It is a tough decision to leave but it's impossible to know what the near future will bring. You may have to dodge the weather as well. Fun times!

  2. Probably a good decision to head on home now with all that's going on and changing daily. Watching the weather closely we came home last year around this time and ran I-40 east to west of Memphis then headed north up through Indianapolis to Port Huron. RV friends of ours coming up from Florida crossed at Port Huron Tuesday and said they were only 5 minutes getting across the border and had no problems.

    1. I think another time we will avoid the route through St. Louis and opt for the longer one. The roads are good in most places on the ST. Louis route, but some holes have caused us issues on this route and I'll be avoiding in the future.
We too eased through the border crossing at Detroit with absolutely no issues of any kind and no wait either.

  3. The Canadian Border Services will not deny you access to Canada.
Taking the southern route will keep you warm but you have to watch the weather.
Avoiding unknown crowds will help you stay Safe.
    Enjoy your travels.

    It's about time.

    1. We debated and opted for a route we hadn't planned on but won't do it again. I had no doubt about getting into Ontario, they can't leave us on the bridge in no man's land.
      Thanks Rick.

    1. Thanks Vern. We did indeed stock up on our way to ensure we have plenty of groceries to keep us going for 14 days after reach Ontario. Also we are staying at a family farm and can use anything we need the house, so that's a bonus. Hope you and yours are all safe, healthy and doing well out there in Boise!!

  5. I'm glad you are doing what makes you feel the best. It sucks that it couldn't have happened a month or so later in the year but oh well!!! Just another RV glitch to get over. Safe and warm travels.

    1. Thanks Lorne. Like you and Sue we debated but in the end it was easier to come home and ease the worries of those back in Ontario than it was to stay where we were and ride it out. Good luck to you and Sue as you weather this panic down there in the warmth of Mexico.

    1. Thanks Doug. As you know we've reached Ontario and the weather was good except for a little rain along the way. WE waved as we passed thru the wonderful state of Indiana, although I'm not sure if Dolly recognized our blurr. Haha.

    1. Thanks Folks. I thought about you often as we travelled along on Hwy 60 in New Mexico. WE have travelled this route before but I had hoped to travel it a bit more on the upper side of I-40 as you folks did. Maybe next year. Hope you folks have safe travels and good health as you travel homeward!!!

    1. Thanks Peter. I assume that by now you too are back in Ontario and settled in for your self isolation period. Hope you and yours are all healthy!

  10. You are doing the right thing. Good luck with your trip. Try and have enough groceries for 14 days when you cross as you likely won't get anything at home and you will be in isolation. We are doing as much shopping as we can which is impossible as most stores here in Vegas are empty but I have been able to pick up a few packages of frozen items and some canned goods

So nice to be able to post a comment again. Guess they got that glitch fixed.

    1. I"m not sure I agree with this being the right thing but it's the right thing to ease the worries of those family and friends back in Ontario. We managed to stock up little bits at time on our journey and we are easily able to weather the 14 days with no issues.
Glad you can now comment again.
Hopefully you and Colin also have a safe and healthy journey back to Canada.
