Lots of photos today...

Our Location: Near American Girl Mine Road, BLM, CA

Another wonderful night, warm and bright. The moon cast shadows everywhere. I chatted with my sister back home in Ontario while the sun was rising. A warm up, their snow is turning to slush. Oh yeah!

The moon was out when I stepped out to watch the sunrise.

With no clouds it was stunningly yellow for a while.

This tire is in the wash.

The moon through a Palo Verde Tree.

The moon over the Dogsled and Igloo.

And the sun has made an appearance.

This prop plane flew over us repeatedly, always on the same path, always pulling up at exactly the same spot (I'm guessing the Mexican Border), at least 7 or 8 passes. Finally he made a couple of big loops and left.

Lots of photos today. Riley and I took a bit of a hike back into the hills to check out a couple of mines, but actually it was just ONE. I hope you enjoy the hike.

Shale like rock, breaks easily.

We followed that path.

Lots of holes everywhere, some worn, some dug I think.

This hole goes directly down into the ground, I'm sure there must be a ladder somewhere but this was as close as I wanted to get. It looked a long way down there.

The rock is soft and there are numerous  holes everywhere one looks. Looks almost like eye holes and a nose up there doesn't it?

 A very pretty view.

We rested in this wash for a bit, enjoying the shade as the sun crept higher.

I hope you enjoyed the hike. Thanks for stopping by.

I've shown this before. It's an old ruins where someone must have lived at one time. There is cement to hold the stone work in place, and as a front step or small porch. There is a fireplace inside with that top being the top of the chimney. A spot for a wood box, a few little storage spaces and a flue for the fireplace. It may have had a roof at one time or it may have just had a tarp. I don't know.

Until next time.... take care, be safe,

An amazing sunrise...

(yesterday's post)

A wonderful light show this morning as I wandered around the desert trying to find something to liven up the morning photos.

I chatted with our friend Ron back in Kansas. They are the friends we had hoped could come west for the winter with us but for reasons beyond anyone's control that didn't happen. Ron explained that our night time lows are higher than their day time highs. I'm glad we're here.

Sunrise through the branches of a Palo Verde Tree.

Taken through the center of an old tire.

We enjoyed the day, both of us heading off in different directions for our walks but making it back to the Igloo within minutes of each other. Good timing, it was time to prep lunch. Honey maple chicken breast, stuffed zucchini (zucchini, carrots, celery, mushrooms, onions, asparagus) and potatoes with onions. All cooked on the Weber Q by the way George. Low and slow. A slice of fresh banana bread as well. Yum, Riley certainly makes a good job of it.

The moon way over there as the sun is coming up.

Some reading, some sun, some shade, a bit of a cool breeze, or at least it was cool to me. It had me putting on a sweater when I was bbq'ing lunch around 2:30 pm.

Such an amazing sky.

Daughter Courtney called later in the evening for a chat. She is my oldest daughter, lives in Toronto and works for the Toronto Board of Education. The city of Toronto received a great deal of rain on Wednesday, while farther north my dad was receiving snow. Very windy in both locations over the past few days.

Noticed this fella on my walk this morning.

A bit closer view.

So that's our quiet day here in the desert. We have no complaints, we like it peaceful and quiet. Thanks for stopping by.

The sun through a sage brush.

Sunrise on the mountains.

Until next time.... take care, be safe,

It definitely adds a different view.

Another quiet day....

Our Location: Near American Girl Mine Road, BLM, CA

(yesterday's post)

A very quiet, peaceful day. A walk before 9 AM and back home to do a few phone calls and relax. We're getting pretty good at the relaxing part of things. Some time in the sun, some time in the shade, back to the sun, you get the idea right?

First one....

Then another.....

And the beginnings of yet another.....

I believe this may have been fields burning in a controlled burn situation, as before long the smoke rose again twice more off to the right. The smoke hung in the air for a while but soon was gone. We didn't smell anything.

The beginning of our sunset.

Some very pink skies off to the  Northwest.

Some very yellow skies in the west.
Chatted with my dad while taking these sunset photos. We caught up on the local stuff happening back there. Snow, snow, snow and maybe some more snow. Wind, wind and more wind.

Can you see the moon?

It's kind of shimmering behind the clouds.

In the exact opposite direction the sun is sinking.

Not an exciting day but we enjoy them. The photos show the sunset and the moon rising in tandem. It was definitely an interesting show. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the visit.

Until next time.. take care, be safe,

Shopping and a haircut.....

Our Location: Near American Girl Mine Road, BLM, CA

(yesterday's post)

We woke with a few errands in mind and around 9 AM headed out to accomplish those errands. Nothing exciting, garbage to dump, a haircut, followed by groceries, and home.  We  managed to accomplish that all before 2 pm. Sorry no photos of Yuma, we didn't take the camera and I didn't take any with my phone.

A cargo plane over head.

Three Osprey.

The cube like tent near us.

We spent the rest of the day putting away groceries and reading. Not exciting but we enjoyed it.

Can you see the moon over there above the mountain?

Sunset in front of us was nice but very little reds or pinks, those were off to the north.

Off in the northern sky.
Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time...take care, be safe,
