We left Ward County Safety Area around 8 am CDT. It was a nice 63f/17c with a bright ball of fire just peeking over the horizon. We crossed into MDT around Sierra Blanc, Texas and were able to repeat our previous hour rolling along but with different scenery.

We stopped a few times, once much longer than we had anticipated but at the end of the day we managed to stop the Big Dog at this rest area just two miles inside the Arizona state line, which means another time zone, MST/PDT. We are now 3 hours behind Ontario.
Long, long trains, 4 engines or more. |
We have arrived. |
It has been a long day so I let the photos tell the tale, I’m sorry but I doubt they are in the proper order.
Until next time…..
Take care, stay safe,
Deb
I imagine your body needs to adjust a bit to get used to the new time zone. I am always amazed at how big Texas is every time we cross it.
ReplyDeleteOh I’m sure I will settle down a bit but anywhere between 4-5 am, no matter the time zone and my internal clock wakes me. I have no idea why.
DeleteTexas is massive but their new rest areas are awesome, it makes the journey a great deal easier.

That time zone change gets me every time. I used to fly to Hawaii a lot, 3 hours time difference. I would be up running at 3:00 in the morning. It was always so hard to get adjusted to that. Those long trains over the CD ... amazing they can even go up the hills. Safe travels ... you're almost there.
ReplyDeleteTime zone changes are like pulling off a bandaid, no matter if it’s fast or slow, they are always painful.
DeleteMost of the trains were two or 4 engines in front, with two or four mid way. The cargo was pretty much 2 boxes in every stack, only a very few had 1 and none were empty. It is an impressive sight to see.

A long day indeed! And another Time Zone Sunday as PDT becomes PST. Ugh I so dislike Daylight Wasting Time!
ReplyDeleteContinued safe travels.
Thanks Jeff.

ReplyDeletelol. We are now going to stop for a while now.

ReplyDeleteThanks. Take care.

Nice to see you motoring along safely. The time zones confused us for a bit, shook our heads, figured it out and moved on. haha
ReplyDeleteTime zones are always confusing.

You're almost there. Enjoy the nice weather and final lap.
ReplyDeleteThanks, we will.
