I think it's almost spring.....

Our Location:
Summer Spot, near South Baymouth, Ontario, Canada

I do believe spring might be closer as the temperatures are starting to warm up, the buds are starting to show, although our 'green' front lawn isn't showing much colour yet, but I think I see twinges and hints.

Taken with my phone, this photo was taken as I climbed around the top rim of the level above us. You can see the waters of Georgian Bay off in the distance.

Again, taken with my phone. This shows the area of our back yard, where our fire pit is located.

If you look carefully between the trees, you can see Riley down there in a chair. She is sitting in our front yard. The Igloo is to the right.

Things are very quiet here in our little corner of the Rock. Not much happening and we like it that way. Chatted with my sister, my daughter Courtney, friend Linda and friends Ron & Sharon this past week. Always nice to catch up with folks.

How cold is it you ask?

The white stuff in the shade is frost but the stuff in the sun has melted.

And in a few places, a bit of snow remains.

All of the above photos were taken with my phone.

Our chives are doing well.

 Rhubarb is doing well too.

Taken from the rim of the back yard.

I hope you are all well, staying out of trouble, and staying healthy. A little cabin fever is normal but if you are holding the chocolate hostage, I think you can call someone about that. Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time... take care, be safe, stay healthy,

Deb

    1. We do indeed have a nice little slice of paradise here. Hopefully after you and Sue complete your 3245 days of quarantine, things will be warm and cozy across our nation!!

  2. Wow, you do have some gorgeous views. Ice in the birdbath answers the temperature question for sure. Always nice to see things peaking up out of the ground. I saw the rhubarb and my mind went back to my mom's rhubarb sauce on toast always a nice treat. Hugs to you both. Stay safe.

    1. Yep, no birds dipping in that bath yet. A bit chilly! The views are great and of course we have to walk/climb to see them and it encourages us to keep active. The rhubarb is a new patch, just started it last year, hopefully in a couple of years it will be a real patch and not a stalk or two. I'll save you some. Hugs to you and Tom.

  3. Looks like you've got plenty of space to explore and get some exercise in.
As soon as I saw the Rhubarb my mouth started watering.
Be Safe and Enjoy nature all around you.

    It's about time.

    1. We have some great places to stroll along and one of these days I'll share some photos of our over the 'rock' walk and the sugar shack.
We too like rhubarb but it is really more of a few stalks than a patch yet, but hopefully it will grow bigger quickly.

  4. Looks like a great little spot...until the mosquitoes arrive! We have not seen a mosquito yet but the ticks have made an appearance.

    1. It's a great spot. We are fortunate, the 'buggers' aren't too bad in our spot or at least not for long. We aren't in among the cedar trees and that helps a great deal. No standing water and a slight breeze all help to make us less 'buggered' than some other places.
We haven't seen any ticks yet either, too cold I think but we watch for them as the heat comes along.

  5. Nice to see you are settled in. I'm happy to see your rhubarb is about the same size as mine. We've yet to get some of our own, so rocky here.
    Stay safe!

    1. Thanks Patsy. We're getting settled with some more summer stuff to get out but it's too cold and damp right now, maybe next week we can finish that little chore. Our rhubarb is more of a stalk than a patch, but hopefully it'll grow quickly in the next couple of years and actually become a patch. We are very fortunate as my dad, brother and sister all have big patches so we can always get a 'fix' if we need one.

    1. Thanks Nancy. We like it. I grew up less than a 1/4 mile from where we park. Some great memories of being younger here. However not so nice in the winter or when the spring/fall wind sweep in with rain and sleet, a few snow pellets or flurries. Brrrrrr..... always makes us happy to pack up and head south.
These are onion chives, we can't find any garlic chives but would sure like to have some. By next year the patch should be big enough to actually get some use from it. This is only the first year and I'm happy to see it has survived the winter with no issues.

    1. Thanks Doug. We like it here, pretty quiet most times but close enough to folks to keep us social. Haha.
