Day late with this post...

Our Location: BLM, American Girl Mine Road, CA

I had good intentions of writing this post last night but as you can see my good intentions didn't make it to paper or in this case, computer.

Our closest neighbour.

Or is he our closest neighbour?

How funny is it that I didn't sleep well our first night here. I think it was too quiet. Or it could have been the squeaky board under my mattress but that's for another day. We were both up around 7 AM and enjoyed sitting with a hot drink and just looking out the windows. Truly we enjoy the desert!

You know I'll be hiking back there before long.

Looking to the EAST this morning.

We had a couple of plans for our day ahead and began by resetting the Igloo, just a tiny bit as I didn't notice until after we had unhooked that we had a slight dip on one side. Yes we have levels but either my eyes weren't focused or my mind wasn't working. We were too tired to fix it on Monday when we arrived and so it was first on the agenda in the morning.

Looking back to the west.

Next we headed into Yuma to shop for the next week. We don't want to have to head into town for anything during the next number of days and we both agreed we wanted to avoid the Thanksgiving Day/Black Friday masses. We made only one stop and of course we had planned but didn't make the second. We'll get to Fry's after the holiday rush.

I think tomorrow this wash might be running with some water.

Back home we spent the rest of the day just relaxing and resting, I put out a couple of lights and managed to snap NOT one photo. Today's photos were taken early this morning.

Some barrel cacti in our front yard.

Tomorrow's forecast is calling for some winds, rains and cooler temps but nothing like the weather Empire Ranch will be getting. We are both happy to have made this decision and are looking forward to some hiking and walking in the days ahead.

Some one left some sea shells here in our front yard.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you all enjoyed your visit. Always thinking of George and Suzie!!

We may not see much of the sun today.

Until next time... take care, be safe,

Don't you just love the views?

  1. Welcome back. We are again at the long term area of Pilot Knob. And we are cold....lol. Jerry went to Target this morning to buy another blanket. Interestingly, on Monday I felt like going for a ride out to that area to see how many RV's were there. But we didn't. Glad you decided to head for better weather.

    1. Thanks Elva. We aren't finding it cold but if you'd of come we could have lent a few blankets until the cold passes. Hahaha. We're taking them OFF the beds.
Perhaps this year we can meet up at some point. We will be here for a number of weeks.

  2. The couple of times we have parked out in that area we have always enjoyed the quiet and even the occasional train that breaks the silence. We would agree with you and Riley no shopping after Wednesday this week. It can get crazy, better to be in the serene sanity of the desert. Take care and stay safe.

    1. We like it here. The train is no longer a noise, only the background while noise. Except for the train and the planes there is very little noise. No coyotes this year so far.
I"m happy to stay away from the stores until Monday or Tuesday and just sit at home enjoying the desert. Safe travels to you and Tom.

    1. It is amazing where we are here. We truly enjoy this area. We are happy to be tucked in on this Holiday weekend and just chillin'.
We are forecast to have a bit of rain this afternoon and some high winds but nothing like the rest of the country is getting. Rain is better than snow I think.
We are constantly thinking of George and Suzie and their love for the desert.

  4. I sleep well always (touch wood) but for our friends here, they are finally sleeping great. It is so quiet here, they've never experienced such peacefulness. :)
Looks like a nice area to hang for a while. Love the barrel cacti with pink toppings. Enjoy your hikes, nice to have cooler temps for those. We're waking up to snow this morning in E.B. LOL

    1. I've never been a consistently good sleeper but go through periods of sleeping well and then not. So I'm always interested in how I sleep in various places and wonder what it is that causes me to have better sleeps at times.
We enjoy the area and have parked in a few different spots over the last couple of years. It's very similar to La Posa South in Q but with no water, dumpsters and dump station.
Yuck, snow. It's why we hurried along through that area. Stay warm and toasty.
