Art or Junk?

Our Location:

BLM Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

Lots of photos today.

The sage is brown this year.

The arroyos are very dusty.

I love the sky.

The road along the power lines.

Things are quiet here, and we like it that way. I have gotten back to walking on a more regular basis, reaching my goal of 6000 steps more days than not. I’m happy with that.

I wonder if someone uses this to rest an arm
on while sighting in on the bucket.

He had to come down the power line road.

The Imperial Sand Dunes way over there.

We are over there in that group of rigs.

In the next couple of days we will hook up and dump the tanks but we will move to a different spot when we come back. We find this spot too open for us and will move a bit farther down to a spot that we have visited a couple of times while walking. I think we will like it better.

Someone moved these rocks to make a compass. It is accurate too.

Someone moved these rocks too but over the years people have added things.

Lots of snow and then rain on Manitoulin Island over the past number of days. Lots of slush to move, and it’s too early for the snow banks to be this high. It will require either the big blower or a clean up using the bucket of Jason’s big Cat. They can push it with the quads but it gets skinnier and skinner with each heavy snowfall. So glad we are missing that weather.

On my walks I have often come across many things. You decide, art or junk.

Until next time…..

Take care, stay safe,

Deb

  1. It's a split decision as to what it is, but it was all done with good intentions.
Be Safe and Enjoy your adventure.

    It's about time.

    1. I agree, it is a matter of opinion. The compass is made with natural material found in the arroyos. It was, I’m certain, an amazing amount of work. It was not a weekend job unless there were many hands helping. The other one, while interesting, leaves a very different kind of foot print, very little is natural, the rest is ‘imported’. We all see art differently and that is a good thing.

  2. ART! And very creative! The stones will be moved around to different artwork.
I now you've vested BS, have you been up to the Snake? It's pretty stable, but his friends change every visit. That's ART!

    1. Yes the snake is very impressive and yes I know his companions change but again, the snake and the companions I’ve seen were made from rock gathered there and nothing else. That is very creative. At Joshua Tree once we found a small bush decorated with empty glass bottles,,old pots and pans, and other such stuff as egg beaters, spatulas etc. I’m sure someone thought it was art, I thought they should have cleaned up their trash and taken it to the dump. We all see things differently.

  5. The compass is nice.
If the person pulling the travel trailer did come down the power line road I hope everything in the trailer was well secured...lol That is one bumpy ride.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your new views.

I haven’t seen anyone around the trailer and the truck doesn’t appear to have moved but someone put up a sun shade a few days ago.
We are just moving a couple of spots down from here, but I think it is a better spot than this one.

  6. I am in the art camp as long as it is constructed with natural materials or vintage debris. Not the new cans or anything plastic.
