Meeting a whole passel of fellow Canadians.....

 

Our Location: 

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

 

A windy morning but bright blue skies and a bit warmer temperatures. Morning coffee time  was outside but it was closer to 2 pm when it ended. Back home for lunch and to edit a few photos. 

 

 

While looking out the window I noticed a silver truck pulling in near the White Lion. Before long a familiar voice called out and I recognized Ivan (Roadtrip  ) as our visitor. Outside at the Stinger B we meet fellow Canadians, Ernie and Deb, whom we met our first year out in the desert, and Don and Donna (Driving Miss Donna ), all of them hail from the western provinces of Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Deb & Tom ( Celebrating the Dance ), Doug ( Miss Adventure Travels ), Riley and I were surprised but delighted when they all showed up. Laughs of course, problems solved, things were learned and a good time was had by all. We hope to see them again before we all leave the area. 

 

 

Chatted with my dad again tonight. Lots of snow there, at least a foot and more on the way in the next few days. Cold also has settled in for a while. Condolences to the McGauley family in the passing of Stacey, at far too young an age.

An adventurous day.....

 

Our Location: 

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

 

A beautiful sunrise and a chat with Deb while that was happening was a very nice way to start the day. None of us had plans and so we hatched a plan to do a little exploring today.

Blurry but the lights are in Mexico at least 5 miles away.

After coffee time we all headed out in their Jeep and found our way to the little stone place I blogged about a few weeks ago. From there we managed to make a triangle and find the little stone place again but it wasn't our intent the second time. Eventually we found the site I had discovered with the copper mining. It took some doing but we managed to get pretty close. Deb opted to stay on the safer side of the wash while Tom, Riley and I climbed through to get to the area I had mentioned before with the multi coloured rocks everywhere. I won't show you any photos of the area because I didn't take any, I've already done a blog about that. If you want to see anything more about our day you can read Deb's blog (Celebrating the Dance )  as she was busy taking pics most of the time.

7:22 am MST. The red has stretched far to the left in just these few minutes.

7:30 am MST, the sun has slipped behind the cloud cover and sunrise is over.

On the way home we stopped at Ivan's and chatted for a few minutes. He's got a nice little spot and we even managed to meet the prim and proper Miss Hailey. She wasn't interested in any small talk and headed off to amuse herself. Home for lunch and then I once again joined up for happy hour, Deb and Tom. Lots of laughs! Doug we missed your input and Yuma's looking for attention. New neighbours have taken up residence in your recently vacated location.

The White Lion roared away today.......

 

 

 Our Location: 

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

 

The morning was spent reading and doing a few little things, coffee with Doug & Yuma and then Deb & Tom came over as we watched Doug packing up and getting the big rig running. Soon the White Lion pulled into our front yard and Doug & Yuma were soon on their way after hugs, see you soons and so on.

Blogger has decided to change the order of the photos, sorry they aren't in order but you get the idea.

The rest of us visited for some time, enjoying the slow pace and the leisurely day. Deb & Tom headed home, but after lunch we once again gathered here at the Igloo with Ivan coming by as well. We chatted about so many topics it's hard to remember them. It's always interesting to talk to a fellow Canadian as things are often different from province to province as it is here state to state.

I heard from Doug just as I was heading inside for the night. He made it safely to his destination. The rest you will have to read on his blog Miss Adventure Travels .  

The cloud formation is changing.

The colours are fading too.

The sun is closer to being up....

And there it is peeking over the edge of the Cargo Muchacho Mountains.

Chatted with my dad last night for a half hour or so, not much new up there. Chatted with my sister for about the same amount of time today, not much new there either. Happy Birthday to my niece Amber as she celebrates another year older today.

Errand day......

 

Our Location: 

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

 

Today was errand day for Riley and I and we managed to accomplish everything in the list. Diesel, gas, propane, drinking water and groceries. It was an expensive day but a good one. We managed a long happy hour with the regular crew, Deb & Tom, Doug & Yuma as well as Ivan. A lively time was had at happy hour!! Today's photos were all taken this morning with my iPad. 

 

Sunrise this morning.

That's looking toward I-8.

Lovely pink over the home dirt.

 

It's hinting at being close.

It is glowing behind all of the mountains, not just the local area of the sun.

The small tan line is the Imperial Dunes, the blue is the mountains behind them.

The sun hadn't popped out in front of me but I could see it on the Cargos behind me.

At this point it was showing sunlight in the above photo.

 

The moon is pretty.

I thought I saw someone waving up there.

The sun is shining on the dunes, the light brown, the mountains behind.

But it's not quite over the mountains here...
