Our Location:
Saddle Mountain BLM, Tonopah, Az
(Yesterday's post)
We woke this morning to odd sounds. Construction sounds, those are new here. Sure enough a look out the door and we could see and hear all the busy noises of starting a new project, back up beepers, squeaks, bangs, shouts, you know the sounds. Of course add to that all of the big equipment that comes with road work and just how are we going to squeeze our 35 +feet past all of that stuff. We strolled out to chat with a fella and was of course assured they wouldn’t block us in.
Stepping around the front of the Igloo at our new location and looking back toward the mountains. |
Back home we decided to continue on our plan for the day. Our time is officially up tomorrow but a few things hinge on a few other things, so we wanted to get the ball rolling and at least knock off a few items we feel are necessary. First chore was to do laundry, for this we headed off to Buckeye and the Desert Laundry at 705 Monroe Street. We have used it in the past, it’s very clean, fair in price and close to groceries. It cost us $34.00 to do four very large loads of laundry. I think it is slowly dying and won’t be around much longer. About half of the washers and two thirds of the dryers are out of service. Sad but it is what it is. It’s still very clean, the same attendant is still very friendly and helpful.
The sun is setting and it's very bright over there.
Some groceries at Wally’s and back home we went. We noticed the construction signs laying down so that means the fellas are done for the day. Good, we will try to weave our way out of the maze. We hooked up the Igloo and headed toward the street. Weaving and ducking, bopping and dodging we wound our way out to Salome Hwy, hung a right and went about 3 miles to Saddle Mountain Vista Ranch to dump our tanks. For $20.00 we are empty. A chat with Angela, who originally hails from Jim & Barb’s (Jim and Barb's Rv Adventure ) fine state of South Dakota, had us learning more about the fly issue and I wonder if something about the dead cattle as well.
I never tire of that view, that mountain changes only by the minute. |
Hickmens is the local chicken grower, been here about seven years now, the fly problem started out here in the BLM land about 4 years ago when they leased land from the BLM Bureau and now spread the waste here. (According to Angela ). The dead cattle on the road side have been hit by vehicles, that’s pretty obvious but nothing is cleaning them up, no birds, coyotes, not even flies or insects seem to be around them. They are slow decomposing in the sun and some have been here for a while, a couple of months at least. I don’t think we will be back to this area in the future or we will be finding a much different location to use.
Out my window. I could get used to that view. |
We came down to Mile Marker 13, hung a left and managed to snag a decent spot for a few days until Doug & Yuma show up with the White Lion and get their nerves settled and things in order. That should be tomorrow and in a few days time we will be pulling up the stakes and letting the wheels roll westward once again to Q. Or at least that is the plan at this point.
The sun is setting in the west and casting shadows and highlights everywhere. |
A chat with my sister and her fella last night had us all laughing. Happy Birthday Rick (sister’s fella). You don’t look your age, for certain. We don’t what age you are but you don’t look it. Glad you had a good day.
I like it. |
Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed your visit.
Not a bad way to watch the sun go down. |
Until next time…
Take care, be safe,
Deb
Beautiful pictures of the Saddle Mountains. To me they are the most beautiful of those I visit. Sorry to see the chicken farm ruin it for us. All lights are green for heading your way tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed. Thanks for waiting.
ReplyDeleteIT is very sad that the chicken farm can ruin so many lives and livelihoods. I'm not sure if that's progress.

Ugh, that beeping sound is so annoying! You are right, Angela is from a fine state but it could be a little warmer!
ReplyDeleteShe is a charming lady. You could always just turn the heat up a little more. Or does your buckzilla blind not have a heater?
