It’s been a week since my last post…

Our Location:

BLM Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

We’ve had a few very warm days but the nights cooled off for sleeping. We are happy to have our flannel sheets! We have journeyed into Yuma a couple of times for groceries and to just get out of the Igloo. We have been walking more mornings than. We even went to Algodones to pick up some prescription medication, but we literally just went to the pharmacy and no where else.

Some painted rocks left behind at a site down the way.

The deer hunt back home went well, Rick and the boys came away with 2, and Leah’s party ended up with at least 2. All in all a good hunt. Jason ended up in the ER with a badly cut finger, I believe stitches or glue were used.

We parked here our first year in the desert.

I’ve been chatting with Dad and sister, keeping up with latest news from the Rock in Lake Huron. A little of the white stuff, some heavy frosts, glum, overcast weather, in other words fall has arrived.

The Imperial Dunes
and the All American Canal.

Our thoughts are with the Bayfield Bunch as they face challenging times ahead. There are no words or gestures that will help, but we like many others are thinking of you.

On a morning walk..

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time…..

Take care, stay safe,

Deb

    1. We are enjoying the quiet and restful days very much. We had a pretty hectic spring/summer/fall.
Actually, the skinning was complete and they were cutting up the meat, not even trimming the bones, just cutting and wrapping.

  2. I'm sure most all your readers are praying for Kelly, The Bayfield Bunch needs her healthy and home!
Did you pick up the painted stones in Algodones? or in Quartzite?

    1. It is very true, I am certain we are all thinking of them and hoping for good news.
The painted stones are sitting on rocks at a campsite here on Ogilby Rd. It is a site we parked at our first year here on Ogilby Rd. As you can see from the first two collage pics, it was a very pretty and well planted site with Barrel cactus and a sign post, although the signs have faded a great deal. We left the stones there.

  3. Have you ever tried Cain's Chicken in Yuma? It's fast food but I think it is very good chicken. Vern

  4. Sounds like the weather is nice and nothing said about wind and that's good. I have decided to forego the long trek from Florida to Arizona this winter. Going to spend it with family. Maybe, next winter. Enjoy your time there.

    2. We are enjoying the quiet, there is no doubt about it.
It is a beautiful spot but it is closer to the road than we like now.
It was a very fast trip, we are planning a longer one soon.
