A quick post with a few pics....

Our Location:

Summer Spot, Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada

Nothing new and exciting here on the Rock. We are back to work and back to our regular weekly schedule. Some visits, some catching up and a few more to get to before long, or at least we hope. A graveside celebration of life for Marion (dad's lady friend) last week was the only real thing of note in the past few weeks.  A few pics to share, random of course, but hopefully they are of some interest to someone.

I mentioned my dad was split wood, here are a few of the wood piles/stacks around his storage space.

Before photos of Jason & Leah's property...

After photos of the property, or should I say middle? Construction is always bad before it's good.

The mud has dried up and the dust is here, black flies have arrived, as have the mosquitoes which are abundant. On a happy note, the hummers are also back, we have 3 that fight over the feeders! I haven't planted any type of garden as yet, we have only been having warm days for the last 3 in a row now!! Yah.... We need rain but my rain dance didn't work, hopefully someone with more experience will do the fancy foot work!

Smoke from forest fires turns the morning sun red.

Yeah, it has been frosty a number of mornings....

But spring sprung and the heat is now turned on.

We are happy to report all of our friends made it home, although some are heading back out on the next adventure! Happy travels Jim and Barb.

Apple blossoms are out at the old orchard.

And below the old orchard too.

A birthday wish to Aunt Shirley, who celebrates in the up coming days. She is my dad's sister. Happy Birthday Auntie!!

Across the road from brother Rick's house.

Across the road from Dad's house, the morning sun is just getting above the trees.

A beautiful sign of spring, The Lady Slipper!

So there you have it, all caught up! I am hoping to get a few more scenic photos in the weeks to come, we will be travelling to other towns within a two hour drive and I hope to showcase some of the beauty we are fortunate enough to see on our travels.

The Honeysuckles are also showing their colours.

The sign we had made in Mexico.

A quick glimpse after all the winter stuff was removed. Shelves and a clean up have been accomplish since the pic.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you are having a fantastic summer folks!!

Until next time....

Take care, stay safe,

Deb

  1. That's a lot of wood to split. It tires me out just to think about it. I'd welcome some of your cooler weather down here right about now. No black flys or mosquitos here.

    1. It is a lot of wood and that isn't all of it. Just the stuff Dad has around not including in the woodshed. The black flies, mosquitoes, and deer flies are certainly becoming more bothersome. It's cooler here again, with the promise of rain over the next few days.

    1. Thanks Nancy. It is a beautiful area and we are fortunate to call it home. The Lady Slippers are everywhere but will be soon gone. They last for such a short time!

  8. We finally got to someplace with cell service so we can read a few blogs. That is a lot of wood! Does your dad want to head over to South Dakota and help us?

The mosquitoes and black flies are horrible right now!

    1. Mosquitoes, black flies, and deer flies are invading!
I'll mention to dad! LOL. He has finished his wood, and brother Rick's as well. He's still limbing up the trees from Jason and Leah's lot but he's enjoying keeping busy.

  9. The Cabin painting looks great. Your Dad sure is prepared for winter with all the split wood. Like Al, it makes me tired just looking at it. Have not heard of any activity on the White Lion. Still plan to go get it this fall. Take care and enjoy the summer.

    1. We are enjoying the cabin and the sign fits right perfectly. Dad won't be using that wood this winter, his woodshed is already full for the upcoming winter.
Hopefully you hear some news about the White Lion soon. It would be nice to have some news soon so you can start making some plans.

  10. Your pictures are definitely of interest to this someone. Spring has sprung here, also, and our mosquitoes are doing wonderfully well...lol We missed those pesky little black/may flies for the most part...yeah. When you said your Dad spent time splitting wood you may have understated just how much by just a bit. That is a lot of wood...lol The sign you bought for your cabin looks perfect. The trees, the wildflowers and the lilacs are all beautiful. Enjoy your summer and this someone is looking forward to more pictures. Hugs to you and Riley!

    1. We really like the sign! We too are being smothered in annoying flying pests, hopefully they subside soon. Dad does a little each day until it's all finished. It keeps him busy and he likes it! I'm glad you folks are having a good time with your family! I look forward to seeing more of your posts!!! Hugs!
