Our Location:
Buttercup Ridge, Roseneath, Ontario
The past few days have been quiet and peaceful, a little rain and then a lot of rain yesterday. However I have managed to do some raking and while I'm not finished, it's a good start. Yesterday was a busy day for me, Judi and I tackled the garage, quite by accident, but after a couple of hours we were finished and with Dennis' truck (we had to push it out, dead battery, glad it's a stick) out of the garage, and with everything cleaned up Judi can now put her gym in that space. We spent some time getting out the summer furniture, planters and lanterns, etc. Winnie of course was ever present with her ball wanting someone to toss it. Riley obliged in between laundry loads, and Winnie was excited to see Riley each time she stepped out of the house or the Igloo.
The outside fire place here at Buttercup Ridge. The pizza oven was covered for the winter. Tulips in the front yard at the base of two black walnut trees. The driveway needs some attention, it was a tough winter with no real frost.
We headed into Cobourg shortly after 5 pm to meet daughter Courtney at the Via Rail Train station, the train was delayed and didn't arrive until around 6:40 instead of the 6:10 originally planned. We headed out to The Ale House, a local pub, for some food. It wasn't the greatest but it wasn't bad. We managed to chat during the entire meal and get caught up on a lot of things. A brief stop at the Igloo for an hour or so and then into the house to meet Judi and Winnie as well as a brief visit before C, R and I came back to the Igloo for a while. Courtney headed off to the house for the night and will catch up with us this morning. We will deliver her back to the train station some time today for her return to Toronto.
A bit better view of the backyard kitchen. There is a big Weber, sink and fridge under the tarp.
Some turkey vultures on the barn roof.
A quiet place to rest and overlook the fields. |
This morning is foggy and a very heavy dew. The sun is trying to come out and is burning the fog off quickly as you can see in the photos. I hope you enjoy them.
Meet Winnie, she's 8 years old and loves to chase balls. |
The fog was dense when I opened the curtains around 6.
And started burning off quickly.
Until next time....
Take care, stay safe,
Deb
Those last two pictures totally say peaceful place. Sounds like you are enjoying your time there. Nice that your daughter was able to come for a short visit. I am not surprised that Winnie would be excited to see Riley she has a special gift with animals and they sense it.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It is a peaceful place and we may stay a little longer than first thought. We shall see. It was wonderful for Courtney to come visit instead of us driving into Toronto. Winnie and Riley bonded immediately.

What a beautiful place to hang out!! I could sit outside and watch nothing, all day long. I love that Riley throws the ball for the puppy.
ReplyDeleteI did sit out in a chair for a while soaking up some sun and the quiet. Riley and Winnie have a system that works to keep them both happy. Lol

I bet it was nice to see Courtney, if only for a short time. The scenery there is certainly different than what you have been used to for the past few month. Very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful to see Courtney even for a short while, she is high energy and always busy. The views are extremely different but they too hold a beauty, albeit a very different kind.

The 'Ridge' is certainly a beautiful place to spend some time.

Your pictures really depict a peaceful country setting. I love the outdoor kitchen area, especially the fireplace.
ReplyDeleteOur puppies sure love their balls, don't they? Winnie is so pretty.
Give me a book and that bench and I'd be set on a sunny day! The pond/fog pictures are lovely.
It is right out of a painting. The outdoor kitchen area is a wonderful addition for outdoor dining on hot summer nights.
DeleteWinnie loves the balls and sticks. Like Gibbs she will carry them for long periods of time.
There are many areas that would have you sitting with a book but I think you would spend equal amounts of time reading and gazing.

What a beautiful place to stay! Some awesome pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed and thank you.

The place your at is beautiful. Winnie looks like a Russian Wolf Hound or at least a little bit. Warm weather is on the way and I will try and send some your way. Vern
ReplyDeleteWarm weather would be wonderful Vern, please forward to the Rock, the long range says highs of about 45F for the next 14 days, lots of rain with night time temps registering around the freezing mark.
ReplyDeleteButtercup Ridge is beautiful and very peaceful.
Winnie is a cross of a Standard Poodle and a Border Collie. She is 8 years old and thinks she’s 2. Lol.

I love that outdoor fireplace and the outdoor kitchen! How nice Courtney came to visit even if it was a short stay! :) Beautiful pictures, I really love the dense fog ones at the end! :)
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed time with Courtney, she is always a happy person. The farm is beautiful and the outdoor kitchen is a dream. There is also a main kitchen and another downstairs in the basement just off the wine room.
