Friends leave and the warmth is gone.....

Our Location:

Road Runner BLM, Quartzsite, Arizona

You know it's windy in the desert when you have a wind warning on the phone. So I won't comment on the wind. However the sun isn't showing itself either or at least not for long periods, mere minutes only and the temps are barely breaking into the non shiver range. The forecast high is 63F/17C but I don't think we will reach that number today and if we do it won't feel like it with the wind chill.

Ken and Shirley decided to pack up and head for home this morning with the wind acting as a tail booster they should do well on the fuel mileage. We were sad to see them go but we understand the decision and wish them a safe journey. We have only met them once previous to this year and so we have enjoyed getting to know them a little more and look forward to more meetings in the future.

Inside happy hour in the Stinger B today. Laughter is always present and a good time is had by all. There are no shortage of things to talk about and we seem to talk for hours. We manage to pick up right where we left off the last time.

Riley is under the weather the past few days with a sinus issue, hopefully it clears up soon. Between the wind and the dust I think she's finding this year a difficult one.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Until next time....

Take care, stay safe,

Deb

  1. Love the picture of the "compound". Wish our Mansion was still there! Looking forward to next year though! We really enjoyed getting to know you and Riley a little more. Hopefully Riley's sinus issues will clear and she'll be able to enjoy the sunshine soon!

  2. I have to believe that this is the windiest winter that we have encountered since coming down here. Glad we picked this day to go to Yuma for shopping and yes the tail wind was great for the fuel mileage. Here's to calmer and sunny days.

    1. I agree about the windiest winter we have had in our journeys here as well. Maybe one of the coldest too, but definitely the dampest. You were fortunate to have a tail wind, and the day was perfect for getting out of Q. To calmer, warmer, sunnier days!!

    1. Thanks Jeff, she is feeling some better, I think the dust is causing her sinus issue to come forward and there is plenty of dust in the air these days. The wind has been cold this year, no matter which direction it comes from and I thought a southerly wind would be warm. LOL.

  4. Today is the polar opposite of yesterday! Full sun early, no wind and warming up quickly!

    1. The sun is nice and the temperatures seemed to warm up quickly but here they have dropped again or at least my thermometer is showing it dropping. The wind is steadily picking up as the hours push on but there was absolutely no wind earlier today, a fact that I liked very much. I'm such a wimp!! LOL

  5. Yesterday wasn't the ugliest day I have ever seen in the Yuma area but it ranked pretty high...lol. Poor Naked Dates had a Valentine's Day event planned outside. I'm sure that didn't happen. I hope Riley can find something to help with the sinus problems.

    1. It was not a nice day here either and any outside events would have been blown away for sure. We all battened down the hatches, pulled in the slides (except Doug with the slide) and tucked away for most of the day. We could barely open the doors without having them ripped from our hands. We tried to convince Ken to leave the Mansion to block the wind but he didn't seem to think it a good idea. LOL.
Riley is feeling better thanks Elva. I think the dust calming down is a big help.
