A busy, productive day.....

Our Location:

North of MM 4, Ogilby Road, Winterhaven, California

This morning Riley had a dentist appointment in Algadones for a cleaning. So just before 9 am we headed out, a garbage run before we crossed the border. We managed to meet up with Deb & Tom (Celebrating the Dance ) just before the border and so we all walked across into Mexico together. They too had dentists appointments.

We were waiting for breakfast to arrive.

A closer pic of the goods they sell on the street at the cafe.

Riley's cleaning went pretty quickly and before long we were heading out in search of breakfast. We stopped at the same little cafe that we've always stopped at and enjoyed breakfast. Riley tried a Gourmet Special Burger and I had  Chicken Enchiladas. We both agreed they were very good. We would definitely have it again.

We had a drink at this place. Very bright courtyard.

Big propane heaters for cold nights or mornings.

From there we walked around, looking at this and that, sat down at another little eatery and had a drink but no food. After that it was time to head home. We were home around noon. Yuma greeted us with  tail wagging excitement! A short visit with Doug (Miss Adventure Travels) to see how things were going and then inside to do a few things.

Small shops ring the courtyard but the posters were interesting and old.

The prices for one of the shops here. All prices are in US dollars.

Before long I heard Doug calling and stepped outside to see a woman with him.  Mickey had gotten her van stuck and couldn't get out. Her friend Kim (in her own Class C), Mike (another RV'er nearby), Doug and I managed to dig, push and direct Mickey out of the sand, back onto the firm ground and headed in the right direction within about a half hour. Our good deed for the day. Happy Hour with Deb, Tom, Doug and Yuma ended our day on a very good note.

Tonight's sunset over the Imperial Dunes.

Goodnight from southern California.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you had a fantastic day.

Until next time...

Take care, be safe,

Deb

  1. Quite crowded at the breakfast patio today. Glad all went quickly for Riley. Not the most fun activity. Always feels good to help a fellow boondocker out, especially a newbie.

    1. Thanks. Riley did well and she’s happy to have it behind her. Helping others is the RV lifestyle way. Hopefully she pays it forward someday.

How nice to be able to help a fellow rver. It's what we do, right?

  3. It was nice to be walking down the sidewalk and see you and Riley just ahead. I do believe you and Riley had way more fun in Mexico today then we did...lol Next time I will make the sacrifice and have a drink for the two of you.
You certainly did do your good deed for the day getting her out of the sand.

    1. We did enjoy our time there and look forward to just taking in the sights. I think no matter what we did we would have had a better time than you and Tom. Lol.
Helping others is indeed the good deed for the day.

  5. Wow those prices at the beauty salon are incredible! Breakfast sounds delicious, made both of us hungry so it's enchiladas for dinner! LOL. Nice you helped out a fellow rv'er!

  6. I thought the prices were great, I don’t know how good the place is but the prices look consistent with the rest I’ve seen, give or take a dollar or two. Breakfast was good. First time I’ve had an enchilada. Helping is the only option for me, I couldn’t imagine not doing so.

    1. Good deeds are part of everyday life, or at least I think they are. We went to Oasis Group but I think they are a bit high in price compared to some others. The work was okay but I also think the price they quoted for some work they said Riley needed was pretty high, double what our friend was paying for the same work, and they told me they would be giving us a big discount ( even with the discount it was still double). We didn’t have anything but the cleaning done, which was $50. I think we will try our friends dentist going forward.
