Our Location: Near American Girl Mine Road, BLM, CA
I was late getting up this morning, not waking up but getting up. So I have no sunrise photos today. A warm overnight had us able to open the windows even on the wind side of the Igloo around 10 AM.
The same mountain at different times of the day. |
Shadow, light, clouds and sun make a huge difference in what we see. |
Riley baked two small loaves of banana bread this morning, we haven't been eating bananas for some reason and so we either had to freeze, throw them out or bake with them. The bread is wonderful.
Again same mountains, different times, shadows and light. |
We also bbq'ed a plain chicken breast this morning, letting it cool so we could chop it up to add to our salad for lunch. I can tell you it was all very good. Although no photos. I keep forgetting. I think tomorrow we may have something stuffed.
We loaded up garbage and empty water jugs before heading out to do that little chore and were passing back past our home road within the half hour. We however decided to check out some other spots that we have camped in before but decided we'll probably stay where we are for the time being. It's nice here but a bit busy in front of the Igloo. Lots of folks coming and going all day long.
All of the Canadians left today, but I don't think they journeyed far, as I think they will be attending the 'Welcome Canadians' event in Mexico tomorrow. I believe they didn't go far so they don't have far to walk. Just a guess though.
These guys just keep getting more and more folks there. They are at the beginning of our road. |
Reading outside off and on throughout the day, sun to shade back to sun. You know how it goes. Very pleasant temps, reached in the low 70's /21-23 C with almost not a breath of wind. Truly a nice day.
Beginning of sunset. |
Lots of overhead activity today. The same helos flew over numerous times, back and forth, almost on a grid. We could see some further off in the distance as well. This evening there is no activity. Maybe they found what they were looking for, or may be they didn't. Who knows.
Chatted with my dad for a half hour tonight, just catching up on things. They are in the minus numbers on the scale shortly after dark but he's toasty with his wood heat.
Overall we had a great day, a small outing and some scouting. Not a bad way to spend a bit of time. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the visit.
Until next time.. take care, be safe,
Goodnight from our home. |

You cannot help but wonder what the helicopter was doing flying so low over the area.....
ReplyDeleteThey were flying over around 9 pm as well, pretty low and multiple passes.

Fabulous sunset pics. Don't you just love watching the colors change?
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy. I do love the colours although the camera doesn't pick them up the way they show in the sky as I'm sure you know. However it is still an amazing sight to see.

Sounds like a wonderful day! Ken's favorite is banana bread, pretty much the reason I buy bananas nowadays. Lunch sounds wonderful too! Love the sunset pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shirley. We like bananas but sometimes we just don't seem to eat them for some reason. Maybe because we like banana bread so much. Hahaha.

You do a great job of capturing the different colors through out the day. Yesterday about 5pm I looked out the window and the way the sun was shining the entire desert looked like it was sparkling. As always..... have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elva. I'm fascinated by the sun and shade on the mountains. It's a never ending change of view. Sometimes we catch sight of something that we can't capture with a camera but it does stay with us in our minds.

One of the things I enjoy when we have been parked in that area is watching the changes on those mountains throughout the day. Thank you for sharing that beauty today.
ReplyDeleteBe safe.
I always enjoy your photos of the various shadows and shades of the areas near you.
