An excellent day.....

Our Location: Near American Girl Mine Road, BLM, CA

A glorious day here in the desert. Warm temps and sunshine was the order of the day. One could have almost started the day with shorts as it was warm even when I slipped out around 7 AM to watch the sunrise. Of course I was early and had to wait for 20 -30 minutes but was able to catch a pretty nice show in the eastern sky.

You can see the beginning of the sunrise showing now.

We enjoyed a fairly quiet morning, a few little chores, and a bit of a walk, some outside reading and a visit with a fellow Ontarian. He was out for a stroll and noticed the Ontario plates on the Dogsled and stopped to chat for a few minutes.  It turns out they arrived yesterday, a party of 3 rigs, all Canadians. This fellow and his wife are from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Another couple in their party is from Huntsville, Ontario and the third couple is from BC. Perhaps we'll get a chance to meet the others before they pull out. I forget his name.

Sunrise off in the east between two Ocotillo.

Sunrise as seen through a Pencil (?) Cactus.

A late lunch today was a Rosemary/Thyme Pork Roast, garlic potatoes with onions, and a packet of mixed veggies (fresh mushrooms, asparagus, carrots, celery, green beans, red and yellow sweet peppers) with orange zest. Pretty yummy.

I'm pretty sure that is dust back there. We could suddenly smell dust in the air.

A closer look.

Some more outside reading after lunch. Later a chat with SIL Barb, and daughter Courtney this evening as the sun was going down. All are doing well back home in Ontario. Little to no snow in those areas but the forecast may change that in the future.

The Canadians way over there across the wash. Two Ontario couples and one from BC.

Now it's all gone, no dust, no clouds, just clear once again.

A wonderful day with temperatures getting into the 70 F/ 21C area or maybe a bit higher. This is what we enjoy and we took advantage of it, sitting in the sun and soaking up some Vitamin D today.

I believe this is the same plane as below. A non fixed wing aircraft.

As you can see the wings are in a different position.

Thanks for dropping by, I hope you had a wonderful day where ever you may be.

Sunset tonight.

Until next time.. take care, be safe,

Good night from the Igloo.

  1. Glad you're having a warm day. I really liked the sunrise pictures through the cactus and ocotillo. And the sunsets. That plane looks like a Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey. They take off and land like a helicopter.

    1. Thanks Doug. I believe you are correct about the plane. I had it in my collection somewhere but I was too lazy to look it up.

  2. Doug is correct about the Osprey. They use them to insert and extract troops. Interesting aircraft.
Watch out for those Canadians. Get them out of the snow and cold and they could turn into party animals! Nice to have the company though.

    1. Thanks Dave. I agree it is an Osprey. A very interesting aircraft and we get a pretty good view of them here.
The Canadians are gone. They didn't stay long but I would agree, watch out for 'em. They can be a rowdy bunch those Canucky folks. Haha

  4. Great pics of the osprey and of course the beautiful desert. Your lunch of pork roast sounds delicious. It's definitely fun to meet new people boon docking. I always look at the plates to see where people are from.

    1. Thanks Nancy. We love the desert and the many different faces it presents to us during a day. New people are always fun and interesting. I too tend to look at plates as I pass by.

  5. Yesterday was a very beautiful day weather wise. I went to Yuma to visit my aunt. She hurt her knee and is in a lot of pain. Last time Jerry climbed Pilot Knob he only got half way. Yesterday he made it to the top. I wish you were on Facebook so you could see his pictures. Sounds like you have nice neighbors. Have a great day!

    1. Sorry to hear about your aunt. Knees are tricky things. Congrats Jerry!!!! I've never thought of climbing there, but I think I"ll give that some thought. It would be nice to see other views. Good neighbours are always important.
