Our Location: Near American Girl Mine Road, BLM, CA
A pleasant morning with warm temps to start the day, a quick look at the numbers telling us it was right around the 50F/10C area by 7:30 AM.
The Ocotillo's are all turning green and starting to flower. |
We may go that way direction next time. |
We didn't have any plans for the day but decided we'd do a little scouting. Climbing into the Dogsled we headed off to find a place to climb a few hills and check out a few spots. We stopped down where all the small campers are to ask them where they get their campfire wood. Seems some of them bring it from various places but no one could tell me where to get it here near Ogilby Road. I'll have to check out the Chevron station.
Noticed this cactus on our walk. |
Wonder what ate part of the leaf. |
We wandered along a few trails but found the constant ups and downs a bit tiring and so headed off in search of a better path. We climbed around the area for about an hour before we came home. We managed to meet up with a couple from Quebec but we didn't speak the same language and so didn't chat.
The wind picked up off and on throughout the day, rustling the mat out side the door and causing a few things to squeak and rustle. Trust the wind to remind you of things you need to tighten!
That little bit of white is the Dogsled. |
Lunch was a leftover day and we used pretty much all of them up. They were as good this time as they were first time around.
This stuff glitters in the sunshine, making the desert floor sparkle. |
We have a neighbour behind us. A single lady in a tent. Interesting looking tent but I didn't get any photos today, maybe tomorrow. It all folds down and pops up without her putting any poles together. It looks very much like a rounded cube. We noticed her today putting stones on the outer edges of the ground sheet holding everything in place.
A very nice sunset but no clouds so it was pretty straight forward. I didn't get any photos. We have plans for going out tomorrow but we shall see how the day goes. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the views today.
The desert version of Spanish Moss. |

Like your new header. May have been a desert tortoise nibbling at that cactus. I like the spacious landscape too.
ReplyDeleteNever thought of a tortoise. The header photo was taken on Manitoulin Island at our summer location during a sunrise one morning after coffee with dad.

Most likely that's javelinas eating the cactus. They take nice big chunks out of my beautiful cactus every other day. If it's close to the ground, it could be tortoises. It would be fun to see either!!
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun to either! I know there are javelinas around as I've seen the hoof prints last year.

Beautiful pictures Deb once again! Sounds like a great day all the way around. In a tent, interesting....
ReplyDeleteThanks Shirley. I'm too old and creaky to tent. Haha.

That looks like a large piece of quartz or trick photography:) I like the glimpses of green in these photos.
ReplyDeleteNo trick Contessa, I simply held it in my hand. I love the bright green of the Ocotillos in the photos. They are abundant back there and very vivid against the browns.

Great pictures. Seriously, I cannot believe how green the Ocotillos are over there and now they are flowering...🌞
ReplyDeleteAren't they amazing? I'm always surprised at how green they are.

A nice sequence of photos of your day...I like the desert.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Judith. Thank you, I too, enjoy the desert. It's very inviting.
