Snow flurries today....

Our Location: Oakdale Campground, Quincy, Ohio

We woke this morning to cold temperatures although not as cold as yesterday, 28F/-2C and snow flurries in the air.  I think I would prefer rain, that means it's warmer. However nothing is accumulating on the ground, so I'm happy about that.

You turn just before that farm house up there to come back to the park.

We've decided to stay in for the day as tomorrow is supposed to be much nicer, or at least less snowy. Yeah. Actually tomorrow is the beginning of the warm up so we're looking forward to that.

I think in the summer with the leaves on and the grass all green, this is a beautiful little spot. Those trailers up there on the top right side are the same ones you can see through the trees in one of the pictures below.

It's good to see some friends are back in Canada, with a few stragglers like us still lingering south of the border hoping for a break in the weather. It's always a guess as to what we can expect when we get back home for weather. To those with a stix 'n brix to settle into the cold is much less bothersome. We all know that spring will come sooner or later but I for one would like sooner rather than later.  I believe last year was an earlier spring, so I guess we have to pay up for that  this year.

The road in to the campground just behind the bare trees and that field on the other side of the road  goes all the way to OH 235 N.

This morning we prepared a crock pot of chili to cook for the day and instead of ground beef we add chicken as we prefer chicken to beef. I have a craving for a nice big burger but with the weather I'm not going to get the Weber out to make it. Guess we'll just have to go out and have one else where. I will say I'm looking forward to getting the Weber out again soon, we haven't had it out since Superstition Mountain, near Apache Junction, AZ. That's a long time for us not to have the BBQ going.

Can you see the trailers through the trees on the left? That orange stuff is a snow fence that will be taken down soon.

The snow stopped shortly after noon but the skies remained over cast with no break of any kind. We could hear the workers nearby with chainsaws, hammers and other tools as they continue doing their clean up. Our temperatures remained quite cool, our high being 38F/ 3C today.

Lots of seasonal campers remain in their space all winter.

We spent the day doing some cleaning and reading our books. Tomorrow we have plans to go out as the Big Dog needs a drink, and the fridge is looking a bit bare. Hopefully the weather is nicer.

Can you see the Miami River down there? Those buildings are across the river.

Thanks for stopping by, sorry there isn't more exciting things going on but well, that's just the way things are here in our little Igloo. Feel free to leave a comment.

This is across the river from us. The debris that has been caught on the dock over there during the big flood has since been cleaned up  as the water continues to recede.

Until next time.... take care, be safe,

Deb

    1. True, it isn't exciting every day but I seem to be lagging these days as the cold really does effect me so I'm pretty certain it'a boring read for most folks.

I'm looking forward to getting the Weber out and having a big juicy burger or even just a nice piece of grilled chicken. I think I'm having with drawl symptoms. LOL

If you could get that weather warmed up before we get back on Saturday we'd sure appreciate it!!

      Thanks for stopping by George.

    3. I noticed that when I was looking at the long range. Rain will take away any remaining snow as well, so hopefully after the rains the temps rise quickly and things start popping. Seems to be late year or at least later than the last few. Oh well, nothing we can do!

      Take care, stay warm.

  2. The pictures in that park are pretty though, even though there are other issues. You're right, it would be pretty in the summer.
Good day to stay inside, we didn't get above 1C.
    the warmth is coming!

    1. I think it's a very nice park with a couple of issues that unfortunately are apparent the second you drive up to the office. However we haven't been back to the office nor do we need to go back and we could phone if there is an issue so there are ways around that too. Anyway, it's a great place for us right now, it's going to get nice warm in the next few days just in time for us to Ontario to the cold. Hahahaa....

We are hoping between you and George that you get southern Ontario warmed up quickly before we arrive on Saturday. It would be nice!! ;)

I agree, warmth is coming and it can't come too soon!

      Thanks for dropping by Patsy.

    1. Thanks Shirley. Your admitting is noted! ;) I'll find one sooner or later but right now it's too cold to think burgers, I'm thinking chili, and soups.

      Enjoy the warmth.

  4. That looks like the kind of park we spent a lot of time in before retirement. Always loved being in a park with trees. Hope the weather does warm up soon...just a little over two weeks and we will be in the UP. We do still have the house so that does help if the weather is colder. At the same time I dislike moving out of the Stinger "B" back into it. Hopefully, this will be the last time.
Stay safe and enjoy your time there...sounds wonderfully relaxing.

    1. It's a nice little park with plenty of trees that I'm certain help to keep it wonderful cool during the summer months. Needs a bit of sprucing here and there but overall a nice spot.

It's supposed to get into the 70's here on Friday and then cool down a the following week but Ontario isn't showing too much warmth so don't hurry home too quickly, I'd give it 3 weeks at least, just to be sure. I made note of a late winter storm in the northern areas of Ontario which are probably pretty similar to your UP of Michigan if you look toward the east. I think they are calling for between 8 -11 inches of snow (unless they've changed the numbers) in the upcoming week. So you may want to check that out.

      Safe travels.
